Fool's Gold by Cassandra Dean

Blurb:
Christmas Eve, the Diamond Saloon is empty of its people, and Pearl la Monte has a hankering to retire early. A pounding at the door rids her of such a fool notion. Her irritation rises when she sees the prissy, polite-like Garrett standing outside.

Ethan Garrett has a powerful need to gain succor. When the saloon’s voluptuous redheaded singer scowls at him from the threshold of the Diamond, he doesn’t stop to think on how his ire at her has disappeared. Or how he just wants to spend some time in her company.

When a blizzard storms in, trapping them, will they spend their time arguing or discover their irritation disguises something more?

My Review: It's Christmas Eve, and with all of the saloon girls home for the holiday, Pearl wants nothing more than to retire to her bed with a bottle of whiskey. Then he shows up at the door...Ethan Garrett from the elite Garrett family of Chicago. They've always had an adversarial relationship, but finding out who he really is makes Pearl's blood boil even more. She distrusts rich men because of the way she was treated in Chicago because of her looks. But when they're trapped in the Diamond Saloon because of a blizzard, it isn't long before Ethan is breaking her defenses down and helping her discover what her true feelings are.

I was touched by Pearl's sentimentality towards her Christmas ornaments and her sweet, tinsel-covered tree, as well as the pain they both felt that their special Christmas Eve might be all they'd share together. A very sexy and sweet historical romance.
