9 Lives for $9 - Best Friends Animal Society

2,100 happy cat adopters can’t be wrong

National ‘9 Lives for $9’ cat adoption promotion this June: Best Friends and partnering rescue groups, shelters

KANAB, Utah — A wildly successful national cat adoption promotion returns this month when 130+ animal rescue groups and shelters nationwide will join with Best Friends Animal Society in “9 Lives for $9”.

Last year more than 2,100 rescued cats joined families across the country during this promotion. In addition to Best Friends Animal Society locations in Los Angeles and Utah, animal shelters and rescue groups across the country are participating in this year’s promotion. These groups are all members of Best Friends No More Homeless Pets® Network.*

Jackson Galaxy, cat behaviorist, author and star of Animal Planet’s “My Cat From Hell” said the 9 Lives for $9 adoption promotion creates a “wonderful opportunity to add some love to your life and save a cat’s life at the same time. That’s why I'm so excited to be a part of the Best Friend's special adoption drive. It's a great time to add some love to your life and save a cat's life. Talk about a win/win! We all have a part to play if we want to save them all; 9 Lives for $9 makes it easy. What you can do is get a cat! If you have one, get another!"

Judah Battista, Best Friends Animal Society’s director of local city programs and animal care, said: “As part of this adoption promotion, Best Friends has created a video highlighting nine reasons to adopt cats or kittens; reasons ranging from the whimsical to the serious. And once you bring these engaging creatures into your home, you will come up with nine reasons of your own why they add so much to your life. Reducing adoption fees during last year’s promotion helped to increase cat adoption numbers, and some of our partners even reported increased adoptions for dogs and other species as well.

“The special-event feel of the ‘9 Lives for $9” promotion encourages people to consider adopting rescued cats,” Battista added.

What a great program! Best Friends does amazing work. We hadn't heard of this, and we are disappointed to see that none of our local rescues are getting involved in this promotion.
