Tara's 8th Gotcha Day

Tara has been gone for almost 2 years now, but I still think of her every single day. 8 years ago today I brought her home for the first time. We didn't have nearly enough time together, but I will always cherish the time that we did have.

In honor of her 8th Gotcha Day I thought it might be fun to share her PetFinder profile. I actually met her "in the fur" at the PetSmart adoption center before I went home and looked her up on PetFinder, which I'm really glad about because I don't think the posted pictures did her justice at all.

Kelly
Cat
Dilute Tortoiseshell Mix

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Gender: Female

Notes: Kelly is a beautiful short haired cat with a sweet personality. As you can see from her pictures, the coloring on her face is half black and half brown and is divided at the nose. She is a pretty big girl who loves to sleep (even in her litter box if it is clean). Kelly would like a home where she has a big bed to curl up on and a person to give her attention. Kelly sleeps through most anything except when another cat goes by her cage, for this she will even get up and tell the other cat to back off. Because of this Kelly needs to be the only cat in the household.

I am happy you had Tara (and she had you). Tara was beautiful. I have found that no matter how much time one has, it is never enough. Fur babies always hold a special place in our hearts, and I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you for sharing your Tara! She was beautiful, and I can tell it's beautiful inside and out. Just look at the way she's gazing up at the camera with such a lovable look! This is a cat you never forget. Going back in time to her beginnings and then thinking of the life you gave her maybe can soothe the pain of loss, but i understand it's always with us. R.I.P, lovely Tara.

That is sad, I didn't realize that Tara went to the bridge so young.

Melissa, Tara was very lucky to have you. I totally believe that we meet the cats we are meant to be owned by when the time is right. I, too, met Carmine in a PetSmart adoption center.

We never have enough time with our fur babies. I'm glad that you were able to have the time you did with her and know that you have a lot of wonderful memories to hold onto. ::hugs:: and purrs from us.

You and Tara were meant to be together. I have discovered it matters not the length of time they actually share with us because it will never be enough. But they imprint their souls into ours and remain there eternally. Like you I lost Abby 2 years (in August) ago, and I also think of her multiple times a day. I believe I always will, and I hope you believe as I do, that one day, when our times are through on this Earth, we will hold our babies again.

Like Sierra said, there is never enough time with our fur babies. So sorry that you lost Tara after too short a time, but smile knowing you had the time you did have with her. She was obviously loved and cherished.

We agree - there's never enough time. Our mom thinks about that a lot with us, even though we're young'uns....

Happy Gotcha Day to Angel Tara. How blessed the two of you were to have found each other, even if your time together was so short. You will be together again someday, for sure. Hugs and purrs to you, Melissa.

It's so hard to get shelter snaps that bring out a kitty's inner beauty. I take some for my local shelter, and I always end up writing something like, "But she's much prettier in person!" somewhere in the caption. Thanks for being someone who looks past the photos and comes to visit. We need more people like you.
