You Are Cordially Invited To A #CatTeaPotty

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a complainer when it comes to household chores. You know, those annoying things you have to do on a regular basis, because if you don't do them nobody else will? Washing the dishes, laundry, taking out the trash, vacuuming...all using up time in my day that I'd much rather spend playing with Mudpie or curled up with a good mystery.

But one thing I've never complained about once in all my years as a cat mom is cleaning a dirty litter box. After all, as a very wise friend once said, having a dirty litter pan also means that I have a cat to love, and there's nothing more important than that.

Really, my only issue with anything related to the cat potty is the thin layer of litter dust that ends up settling on everything in the surrounding area. It's not a stretch to say that I've tried every clay litter on the market. Each one promises to be 99.9% dust free, and while some are better than others, I keep hoping to find a litter that will live up to my expectations.

This post is sponsored by Weruva® and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help create awareness about the launch of Weruva’s new It’s a Tea Potty Cat Litter but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. Weruva is not responsible for the content of this article.

Cutest. Packaging. Ever. Am I right?

When Mudpie was diagnosed with asthma I learned that a major irritant for many cats is scented, dusty, clay litter. That's when I knew it was time to get serious about finding a healthier alternative. When a call went out for bloggers to try the new All-Natural Hinoki Wood & Green Tea Cat Litter by Weruva® it was like fate had intervened.

Weruva is a brand I have trusted for many years. Their amazing line of cat food was a life-saver for me during Tara's final weeks when she had many supplements in capsule form that I would empty out and mix into the gravy. Even as fussy as Mudpie is with her wet food, she loves her Weruva pouches. I had no doubt they would put the same high standard and passion into their cat litter as they do their food.

So what's so special about this litter?

It's clay and grain-free yet still clump-able! No corn or wheat, both common culprits of cat allergens. Super low dust makes it purr-fect for kitties (and humans) with respiratory issues.

Superior odor control. Bacteria is often the culprit when it comes to litter box odors. The characteristics of Hinoki Wood naturally curb humidity and the Green tea contains catechins. They work together to suppress the growth of mold and bacteria which in turn aids in odor control.

It's environmentally conscious. To ensure the responsible and sustainable use of Hinoki, the wood Weruva uses is a salvaged by-product of other industries such as the piano and construction industries. A new tree is also planted for every tree used!

Natural Green Tea Aroma. As soon as I opened the bag I had a craving for green tea. It's a fresh and clean scent with no heavy perfumes or air fresheners.

Now typically when you change a cat's litter you're supposed to do it gradually by sprinkling a thin layer of the new on top of your current litter or replacing just a bit at a time. Since Mudpie hasn't had any trouble adjusting to various litters in the past I decided to completely switch out the litter in her second box that I keep in the utility room.

A couple weekends ago I had some work to do in there so I lured her in with some toys so I could keep an eye on her with the hopes that she would hop right in. (And of course I had to bring my camera, too!) After just a short period of time she gave her pan a good smell test, and it apparently passed because then this happened. Action shot!!!

The new Weruva litter comes in two sizes: 6.7-lb and 11.7-lb bags. For a single kitty home like ours a 6.7-lb bag should last us a month and so far we are absolutely loving this litter. As much as I enjoy reading mysteries I couldn't be happier not seeing dusty paw prints tracked through the house like it was a crime scene!

Join the #CatTeaPotty today by visiting Weruva on their website and social media: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If you would like to purchase this litter you can do so here.

Have you ever tried an alternative to typical clay litter?

Does this sound like a litter you and your cats would be interested in trying?

I'm very intrigued by this litter. I love that it's all-natural, and I'm really loving that it employs the use of green tea. Definitely worth checking out! Thank you for sharing, Mudpie and Melissa! Purrs!

Mum has started to use Fullers Earth clumping litter for us and she loves it as it as she doesn't need to change all the litter every day and she can just scoop the clumps and drop them in the bin and add more clean litter when gets another clump lifted out.

The only thing I ever tried other than clay was newspaper that I shredded- big mistake, they thought it was confetti and had it all over. This sounds great.

Awesome review! I am definitely going to check this out!

I love your line about rather reading a mystery than doing chores. Yes! If it's a cozy with a kitty, even better! :)

I wish Ralphie wasn't such a stinker on new litter. He only likes tidy cat and has resisted switching to any other litter I have tried.

TW loves this litter. I'll do pee's in it but I still haven't pooed in it. It's a good thing it's only in one box. TW loves that it's not dusty. BTW, is that a really small pee or did the clump break up? We have it mixed and it seems to hold together.

We haven't been fans of litters made from wood or newspaper or wheat or corn, so we're not sure we would like this litter.

This really is the best litter! Takes care of stinky smells better than anything else we've tried and we don't have to breathe in dust. Loving it! ~RascalandRocco
