Lost in the Fifties #MewsicMovesMe

It's no secret that next to classic country my favorite music is rock & roll from the 1950s. The challenge of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is to build a playlist from one decade, so...

Let's take a trip back to the '50s and jive around the jukebox, beginning of course with my one and only...

Last but not least, we lost Elvis 44 years ago today...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!
Let us know if you have a favorite.

M&M,

The 50s is my parents' decade for sock hops and drive-ins. Although this is way before my time (yours, too), it was a fun decade. A whole of innocences in music comparatively speaking to what's out there today and the talent, WOW! You brought to the dance floor quick music to get your heart beating with "LaBamba" as well as a tender tune to slow dance to with "Earth Angel". Every time I hear "Rock Around the Clock" I think of the TV show Happy Days. :) Thanks for sharing and hitting the 4M dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

This really brought back memories of some of my grandparents, who used to play this kind of music all the time. Thank you for that!

When I was born in the early 50's my grandparents started a picnic grounds. I remember the first jukebox there. A record cost 5 cents to play and each song had its own push-in slot slot to put the nickel!

Mudpie, you made Mom's day but including a song by ELVIS. She swoons every time she hears his songs. Hugs.

Great selections, Mudpie! My dad used to listen to his parents' 50s records when he was a wee little kid. Good memories! - XO Ava

TBT here: In the 50's where I lived, children were seen but not heard. And we didn't have our own music then. In my family, we listened to classical and Broadway music at dinner. The only non-adult 50s music I recall was "Does Your Bubble Gun Lose Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight" and "The Little Blue Man". And only that because my best friend had an older sister.

But to be fair, I later developed an appreciation for Johnny Cash, folk-singers, some sad cowboy songs, and tragic songs "She Tore Out My Heart And Beat That Sucker Flat".

I liked later Elvis songs.

That's quite a collection, and I enjoy that throwback from when Conway Twitty was a rocker. He was channeling Elvis in your selection. I knew all songs but that one, and the Buddy Holly True Love Ways. I found True Love Ways interesting - more 50's than rock. The other songs are all classics. I was hoping someone picked the 50's and you did. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
