1. Don't live your life for someone else was the best advice I ever received.

2. If you don't have any pets you won't get your heart broken when they die was the worst advice I ever received. (An uncle told me this after losing Truffles.)

3. If I knew how to open a squeezie, I would eat until I bust.

4. I thought I was Mommy's one and only, but it turned out I was sadly mistaken. Lately Mommy has been spending tons of time looking out for Mo (he's not doing well) and cat sitting for our neighbor. I'm feeling very neglected.

Mommy wrenched her back on Friday afternoon and has no idea what she did. Seemingly out of nowhere she started having spasms in her lower right back when she bent over, barely slept Friday night, and it hurt even worse on Saturday morning. (Ice and ibuprofen did help as the day went on.)

So of course *some kitty* made a poopy mess in their litter box overnight and proceeded to rub their little tushie on the bathroom rug, living room rug, and kitchen floor, so Mommy had to get down on her hands and knees to clean it all up. Wasn't that inconsiderate of *some kitty*?

At times like this it stinks to be an only cat...there's no one else to blame.

1. Eating pizza makes me happy.

2. I don't mind paying extra for anything for my cats. I often joke that everything I buy at the grocery store is store brand except for cat food! 

3. Seeing Mo happy was the best part of my summer. Last winter was extremely hard on him, so seeing him lounging in the sun each day has been such a joy. I love fall and winter but I'm okay with it staying warmer for longer so he can continue to be comfortable. 

4. I can't wait to decorate for Halloween this autumn.

1. I define success by being content with what you have.

2. Nearly running out of gas was an awkward moment. Dad and I were running errands on Wednesday when the low fuel warning light came on. I didn't realize how low I was. Dad started to worry he was going to have to walk home!

3. I learned to drive when I was 30 years old. I took drivers ed in high school (as a senior, I waited as long as I could!) Then Dad wanted to continue teaching me on a stick shift which I absolutely despised, so I stopped driving. Thankfully I worked within walking distance. Finally at 30 I started driving again on an automatic and got my license.

4. I can only take so much heat and humidity before I get grumpy.

Mo in the Rhubarb Patch

Last week Mommy had a cat sitting job taking care of our neighbor kitty. Our neighbor is a wonderful gardener, and while Mommy was looking out the window admiring the garden, she spotted Mo hanging out by a rhubarb plant!

It really made Mommy smile because there's an old movie from 1951 starring an orange cat called Rhubarb. We wonder if it's too late to change his name? MOL

1. My to-do list for September includes celebrating my birthday and hopefully getting back to decluttering.

2. 3rd grade was my favorite year of school. Mrs. Brownsord was my favorite teacher. I had her for Kindergarten, and was so happy when she moved to teaching 3rd grade so I got to have her for a second year.

3. I have a lot of respect for animal rescuers because they're unsung heroes.

4. Getting sick on it made me stop eating ricotta cheese.

We are SO excited to see September on the horizon, although we're happy to say that we've been enjoying a bit of a fall preview with high temps in the 60s and 70s! The nights have been downright chilly too! Cuddle time!!!

Happy 12th Gotcha Day, Angel Truffles!

Twelve years ago today I adopted Truffles. There's no happier day than the day a new fur baby arrives, and I still remember picking her up at Petco, bringing her home and her settling in like she was always meant to be there.

She was so young, we were going to have so much time together...but that wasn't meant to be.

Would I have brought her home that day if I'd known the heartbreak to follow? Without a doubt. In our short two years together she left me with memories that will last a lifetime.

And now I'm glad I didn't know

1. When it comes to making decisions, I don't dilly dally, but I take time to weigh the pros and cons.

2. Parallel parking was the highlight of my week. I got my drivers license in 1998 and haven't parallel parked since. On Wednesday afternoon it was either parallel park or walk a long ways in the ungodly heat, so I parallel parked, and was very proud of myself!

3. I wish there were a Hobby Lobby, At Home, Five Below, Ross, Burlington, Taco Bell, Cracker Barrel in my local area. The list is endless! It's ridiculous how many major chains we don't have in this area.

4. Thanks to the aforementioned ungodly heat, I haven't gotten any decluttering done this summer.

I Almost Got Into BIG Trouble!

For some reason I enjoy plopping down on top of Mommy's laptop. As long as it's closed up and turned off she doesn't mind. 

One night last week that's exactly what I was doing when suddenly, I had to puke! Did I move? Nope. I started gagging right on top of the laptop. Thankfully Mommy was right there to grab it out from under me or I might've been in BIG trouble! A new laptop would've put a serious dent in my squeezie budget!

Mommy and I want to thank you all so much for the lovely Gotcha Day wishes left here on our blog and on Facebook. I'm such a lucky tortie to be surrounded by so much love. 

I had a pawsome day...I got a rotisserie chicken! Mommy said I had to share with Mo, which I don't really understand - why do I have to share some of MY Gotcha Day gift with HIM? She said he's family even though he doesn't live inside with us, so I guess it's ok.

Breaking news! At 11pm last night Mommy went to the door to look for Mo, and there he was...with a dead mouse beside him. He didn't eat it like he did last week though, he just laid there with it. Mommy said he'd brought a gift to my party like a proper gentleman caller. I'm not really interested in eating it though. I'll stick with my properly cooked rotisserie chicken. I might like to play with the tail though. 

Then, just an hour later, he had eaten half of the mouse and puked it all up in our driveway! Guess he's not such a gent after all!
