And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. The internet is my biggest time waste. Lately I've been spending lots of time on Reddit, but I'm learning a lot.

2. I am allergic to cats. Would it ever stop me from revolving my life around them? NOPE!

3. Mudpie heavily influences my daily schedule. If she wants extra cuddle time, everything else I need to do waits. She comes first.

4. I like to DIY yardwork. I refuse to pay for anything I can do myself.

Heart Melting #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

Is it spring yet? We love winter at our house but this year we're hoping for an early spring. On Sunday night/Monday morning we got 15.6 inches of snow! Thankfully it was super light and fluffy so Mommy was able to shovel our driveway. Plus it's been brutally cold with wind chills in the teens and twenties below zero. I can't even have my back door open a crack for a hint of daylight!

The only good thing about this winter has been the extra time Mommy and I have been able to cuddle. Now that Mommy doesn't have Grandpa to take care of she says she has so many things she wants to do around the house, but I hop on her lap and hold her down for hours. She's not complaining though. She can get her work done come spring when I'm busy catching some rays!

My favorite way to lounge on her lap is with her right arm tucked underneath me so I can rest my head in the crook of her elbow. The other night we were watching TV and I reached out and put my paw on top of her hand. Mommy's heart melted into a puddle. It was way too dark to take a decent picture (we did a ton of brightening here) but Mommy had to grab her camera (with her left hand) to capture that precious moment.

That's my photo fail...let's see yours!

2026 Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Cats & Cat Moms from Etsy

Meows from Mudpie!

Just like previous years Mommy wasn't planning on a Valentine's Day gift guide but I talked her into it by reminding her of all the cool things we find on Etsy! We've broken our picks down into gifts for cats and gifts for cat moms, so there's a little something for everybody!

We hope you enjoy our picks, and don't forget, if you find something here you like and make a purchase using our affiliate links, I get a little money for my piggy bank so I can buy something special for Mommy on Valentine's Day!

Another Roller Coaster Week #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Unfortunately my tushie troubles continued this week so on Wednesday I was hauled out into the freezing cold to the vet.

You can see the betrayal in my eyes!

I've actually lost nearly 2 pounds since November which is really good news, but the vet said it's still not enough. She shaved my bottom and Mommy said she's never heard such language coming out of me as she did at that moment! The vet was shaving, the tech was holding onto me, and Mommy was feeding me a squeezie, but I was still letting it rip! (It's a good thing I don't go outside. Now that it's elebenty below zero I would need to wear undies!)

Mommy was convinced my anal glands were the problem again, but the vet said they didn't appear to be impacted. She gave Mommy some ointment for my red bottom and told her to get some Miralax because she thought I was constipated. She also wanted to do more bloodwork and a fructosamine test to see how well my diabetes was being controlled.

Then Wednesday night I started acting like I might have a UTI! I was peeing small amounts in my litter box, and then even followed Mommy down to the basement and squatted down there! Thursday morning she woke up to two large puddles on the bathroom floor...I wasn't even trying to use my litter box anymore. I'd never done anything like that before. Mommy had some HomeoPet UTI drops leftover from Mo last year, so she started adding those to my squeezies until she heard from the vet.

Waiting to be violated.

Friday afternoon the vet emailed with my results - she told Mommy to STOP the insulin because my bloodwork and fructosamine tests were NORMAL! At this time, I'm NOT diabetic! We think my diabetes was caught quickly, so after a couple months of insulin and a diet change to mostly wet food, I appear to be in remission! It may not last, but that's where we are right now. She wants to recheck me in a month, and also do a urinalysis. Mommy started crying.

Unfortunately my bloodwork still shows elevated kidney values so the vet wants me to try a renal diet. Mommy isn't sure how she feels about that because I've just started accepting Fancy Feast after rejecting wet food my whole life. I'll give it a try but Mommy is also researching supplements she can start adding to my food.

So that's the Mudpie Medical Report! Some good news, some not so good news, but Mommy and I will face everything together, just as we always have!

2026 CFA Cat Show

 Meows from Mudpie!

Over the weekend Mommy attended the CFA cat show that comes to our town every January.

The theme of this year's show was "Out of This World". Kitties in space!

So many beautiful kitties...

New this year was an agility ring but everyone was catnapping when Mommy went by...

The highlight of this year's show for Mommy was meeting the kitties of Pennsylvania's Therapy Cats Rock: Brad, Chase, Flora, Gus, John David, Nona and Phil.

One of the cats, Chase, was recently awarded the Pennsylvania Freedom Medal for his nearly 13 years of therapy work. He's the first cat to ever receive the award.

Mommy had fun at the show and was in Heaven being surrounded by so many kitties,
but she happily came home to little ol' me!

If It's Not One Thing It's Another #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

What a week.

We got a second opinion on our furnace and the diagnosis was terminal, so a new one will be installed on February 5th. The good news is that thanks to advice Mommy received from the amazing Miss Ellen at 15andMeowing, it won't be costing us a dime. What an amazing blessing! (Miss Ellen, I'm sending you a million tortie kisses from a couple hundred miles away!)

Now the bad news. I've spent most of the week in the potty. In and out, in and out. At first Mommy thought I had a touch of diarrhea. I love a taste of cheese now and then, but if I have too much it makes me a little squirty (if you catch my drift). It usually clears up in a day though. Then she started wondering if I was constipated because the poops became small, formed little balls, multiple times per day.

Friday afternoon she had an "AHA!" moment when she saw that my bottom was leaky and very, very stinky...it must be a recurrence of my anal gland issues! The only difference is I didn't get a red, swollen lump like the other times. In fact, I've been quite flat "down there" lately.

She started putting some fiber powder in my squeezie in hopes that clears things up. If not, I'm sure I'll be going you-know-where to be horribly violated, although the vet is never able to get anything out when she tries to express my glands.

Please send purrs that my cute little tushie straightens itself out!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mudpie's answers:

1. I used to think I hated wet food, but I was wrong. Now that I'm a sugar kitty Mommy is very happy I decided to like Fancy Feast! (Thank you, Mo!)

2. Every time I plan to look outside, I see nothing but clouds. I'm enjoying all the extra cuddle time with Mommy, but I need some sun!

Mommy's answers:

3. I'm already looking forward to the month of April because this has been an exceptionally long winter. I know everyone will be surprised to hear me say this because I always prefer winter to summer, but this winter has obviously been a nightmare at my house. Plus the snow and cold started in November and hasn't let up. Mudpie wants her sunny door back. I keep thinking about Mo too - that poor little guy never would've survived this winter with as brutal as it's been.

4. When it comes to social media, I think it can be both a blessing and a curse. It all depends on how people use it.

Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Mr. Furnace Man? #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

If you read our blog yesterday you know we've been having trouble with our furnace. It's been peeing on the floor since late October/early November, but with Grandpa so sick Mommy had to put it on the back burner. She knows that high efficiency gas furnaces produce a lot of condensation so she figured something had just gotten plugged up and wasn't terribly concerned about it.

Wednesday afternoon a technician came to look at it and says the water is coming from the secondary heat exchanger. That's a part that can be replaced, but it's a difficult replacement that will cost nearly half of what a new furnace would be, so he recommended getting a new furnace.

Here's the infuriating part - the furnace is only 7 years old!!! Needless to say, Mommy plans to get a few second opinions because she worries about being taken advantage of as a woman alone now.

It's been another extremely stressful week at our house.

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. I recommend everyone learn something new this year. I just found out about a local company offering free online classes for women who want to learn more about cars and car repair. Now that I'm on my own I think it would be beneficial to me.

2. My stress level is still sky high and I need a break. After losing Dad I was hoping to have a little time to decompress, but now it looks like I'll need to replace my only 7 year old furnace. I'm just sick over it.

3. I try to save money by buying everything possible on sale and cooking all my meals at home.

4. I sometimes let myself splurge on Halloween and Christmas decor.

Unboxing December's CatLadyBox

The theme of December's CatLadyBox was Whisker Wonderland...here's what was inside!

Angie Rozelaar

Good Taste Cats Tee:
I love the CLB description of this shirt - "Inspired by vintage well-loved t-shirts, because all cats should be well loved."

Whisker Wine Glasses:
The design is just a cat nose and whiskers. So sweet!

Cat Walk Collection Socks:
5 pairs of socks, all so warm and colorful for extra winter coziness.

Friendly Monster & Pe-purr-mint Catnip Toys:
I adore kitty Christmas toys! The little yeti is just too cute, and the peppermint smells so potent! Mudpie loves resting her head on it for a nap.

Seeking My Paw of Approval

Meows from Mudpie!

Last week I told you all about my pawsome Paws & Claws Gift Exchange package.

Now that they've posted their reveal, I can add that I sent gifts to our sweet friends The Florida Furkids Noelle and Reesie.

Since I'm unable to go shopping (not to mention the fact I don't have any money) I sent my personal assistant (aka Mommy) out to brave the crowds.

When she got back she laid everything out for my approval.

You did good, Mommy.

You can wrap it up and mail it for me now.

And make sure they know everything is from Mudpie!
