It won't register my Google account. Anyway, I knew almost all of these (except the Conway Twitty song!), and I am not that much of a country fan. What a year this was for sure, in both country and rock. I did love Glen Campbell, and seeing the young Glen singing one of my favorite songs almost made me cry. I wasn't a big country fan, but there were just certain tunes that I did want to hear over & over. Johnny Cash was my most favorite I have to admit, but you know Stand by your Man was every woman's favorite! Thanks for bringing back many great memories! HUGS... Tammy Wynette's D.I.V.O.R.C.E always made me so sad, too. I remember being in a radio station in southern WV or western Virginia, as a little girl. My folks were there for some gospel program. I think they were asked to sing over the air. Anywho, it around the time Jeannie C. Riley's hit, Harper Valley P.T.A. came out and this woman walked in who I thought was her. She was wearing a mini skirt and boots. I don't know if it was actually JCR or that's just what I wanted to believe but I convinced myself it was and told all my friends. I still want to believe it was her but something tells me it probably wasn't. lol Thanks for sharing suc fabulous picks on your choice song picks week!Cathy Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01056276734145310231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2536122764434872338.post-7479081450002524012018-10-29T02:36:26.517-04:002018-10-29T02:36:26.517-04:00Wow Melissa,
Now this is PURE COUNTRY GOLD here! O...Wow Melissa,
Now this is PURE COUNTRY GOLD here! OMG, I loved every single song...they each took me waayyy back. This is one of the best country posts I've seen in a long time. Everyone is so focused on Today's Country and even when folks "go back" they seldom go back to these years of amazing greats by some of Country's finest artists.
Each song, each video gave me goosebumps of happy days gone by. Thanks so much for posting all of these. I honestly don't know which one I like best! Probably my #1 favorite would be Harper Valley PTA, but Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman and Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison performance is right up there at the top too. Tammy Wynette and Conway Twitty...just the mention of their names brings back those feelings of the good ol' days...
I'll be coming back and listening to each of these several times over this coming week, I'm sure.
Excellent Freebie post...from a rock chick who digs this classic country gold!

Michele at Angels BarkMichele at Angels Bark https://www.blogger.com/profile/15891713963440451090noreply@blogger.com
