Character Interview with Sophie Winston from The Diva Frosts a Cupcake by Krista Davis

Thanks for visiting with us today, Sophie! What kind of trouble are you up to in The Diva Frosts a Cupcake?
I blame it all on Nina and Humphrey. I love them to death but how do they get me into these messes? Nina came up with the idea of a Cupcakes and Pupcakes fundraiser for animal rescue groups. I'm a sucker for homeless dogs and cats, so I agreed to help her. Wouldn't you know that the partners in one of the best cupcake shops in Old Town split up the morning of the fundraiser? And then one of the dogs went missing! And Humphrey, who is hopeless with women, had not one, but two women chasing after him for a change. The only trouble was that I thought one of them might be a murderer. You can read all about it in THE DIVA FROSTS A CUPCAKE. By the way, I highly recommend the recipe for Applesauce Spice Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting that's in the book. Yum!

How are Daisy and Mochie doing?
They're great! Daisy helped us a lot in Cupcakes and Pupcakes. She even attended the gala eight-course cupcake dinner. Mars bought her a collar with bling on it because it was a black tie event. All the dogs got to eat an eight-course pupcake dinner of their own!

Did working an adoption fundraiser tempt you to add a new 4-legged member to your family?
Well, it certainly tempted someone. I was too busy with a potential new beau. Can you believe that Natasha bought a dog?

In every one of your books people are in and out of your house making it resemble Grand Central Station. That would drive me crazy! How do you stand it?
I love it! They're all friends and family. That's what life is about, right? I'm always glad to lend a hand when I can. It warms my heart to know that they like to cozy up in my kitchen with me. We all love to eat. What better way to spend time with friends?

Does your author share with you ahead of time what your upcoming adventures will be?
Sometimes. I don't like the way she's toying with my love life. I didn't see that business with Wolf coming at all. I hear there's a Christmas book next with loads of yummy Christmas cookie recipes. Mars is going all Clark Griswold on my house. Wouldn't you think he should decorate his own house?

Krista tells me she has invited people to suggest titles for the next book. The title has to begin with "The Diva," must have a Christmas theme, and of course, she likes puns. Please suggest something. There's no telling what she'll come up with on her own.

Anything else you'd like your fans to know about you?
Yes. I'm really pretty ordinary person. I can't help it if I keep stumbling over dead bodies. Krista makes me do that. I'm gaga for cupcakes, croissants, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. And ice cream, too. No wonder I have to wear pants with elastic waistbands.

I'm a little miffed because Krista has started writing about someone named Holly Miller, too. The first book is MURDER, SHE BARKED and it will be out on December 3rd. All the domestic diva characters are a little irritated that there's a new gang coming. I'm just hoping Krista will make Holly's love life a mess and will finally let me have a nice peaceful romantic relationship!

Like her characters, Krista Davis has a soft spot for cats, dogs, and cupcakes. She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with three dogs and two cats. The Diva Frosts a Cupcake is the seventh book in her Domestic Diva Mystery series. Three of those books have been nominated for Agatha awards and two have made the New York Times Bestseller list. In December, Krista’s new series, the Paws and Claws Mysteries, will debut with Murder, She Barked.
