Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day ~ In Our Hearts To Stay

Meows from Mudpie!

Mommy has been giving a lot of thought to what she wanted to do for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. After all, we honored the anniversary of the day Tara and Truffles got their angel wings just last month, as well as what would have been Truffles' 3rd Gotcha Day last week.

I decided to ask Mommy how she felt about me writing our post this year. At first she hesitated. She said I'm a baby and she doesn't want me thinking about such things as death and dying, but I insisted. There are some things I need to tell Truffles, things I want to make sure she knows, so I wrote her a poem.

She talks about you all the time
It's almost like you're here
I comfort her the best I can
By always staying near

I understand how much she hurts
It happened way too fast
You were here then you were gone
A memory from the past

I'm here now because you're not
It doesn't seem quite fair
I'm thankful for the life I've got
And say it in each prayer

I love her Truffles, oh so much
I show her every day
You'll always be a part of us
You're in our hearts to stay

ABOUT RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY:

This special day was created by Deborah Barnes – author, award winning blogger, and cat advocate in tribute to her cat, Mr. Jazz, who she had to say goodbye to on August 28, 2013. She shared the journey of letting him go in her most recent book, “Purr Prints of the Heart: A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond,” a warm and heartfelt book that is written in the wise and comforting voice of Mr. Jazz himself as he shares his life and death journey to offer guidance and understanding through a cat’s perspective as to why sometimes letting a pet go can be the greatest gift you give them.

A special event page for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day has been created on Facebook so that people can share blog post links, pictures, poems, favorite memories, etc. Please click here for the link.

We're also entering our beautiful Mudpie and Truffles graphic, created by Ann at Zoolatry, in the Sunday Selfies blog hop hosted by The Cat on My Head.

  3. Beautiful poem, Mudpie. I teared up because I imagine Bear feels the same way as you do. We're lucky for each and every day we share with those we love - and the love outlasts life itself.

  4. TBT talks about Skeeter and LC sometimes to us . Me don't mind. Because we know that when we go to The Bridge, he will talk about US too, and remember. And that's almost the same as being with him.

We remember our fambly and friends who have gone over The Bridge this day!

  30. How very grown up you've become Miss Mudpie. Reminds me of how Kit mentored Jazz when he was a young cat. She taught him about dying so that he would understand that death wasn't the end of the world because the memories of those we love always stay in our hearts. Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang
