1. I wish my town (city) had a Cracker Barrel, Dairy Queen, Hobby Lobby. Honestly, this list could be a mile long. There are so many major chains my area doesn't have.

2. So far, this year has been a nightmare I keep hoping I'll wake up from.

3. The world is a little too peopley for my liking.

4. Even if I complain a lot, I really appreciate my life.

At the Vet #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

Thank you for joining us for this month's edition of the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop! We've been enjoying some beautiful spring weather here, with highs in the 50s and 60s. Warm enough to enjoy some window whiffies, yet cool enough for nighttime snuggles too. It only it could stay this way instead of the hots that will soon be arriving!

My photo fails this time around were taken last month during my two vet visits for my ears. The first one is blurry, the second one is just awkward. I was being super cute rubbing my head against my carrier, but it just looks really weird.

Those are my bloopers...let's see yours!

Mudpie Interviews...Percival & Jasper from Ruth J. Hartman's Mobile Cat Groomer Mystery Series

The life of a cat groomer isn’t just pampering purring felines, it's murder.

Mobile Cat Groomer Molly Stewart loves her job. Until she finds the dead body of one of her pet parents stabbed with a garden implement in his back yard. When Molly’s uncle Russ becomes the prime suspect in the murder and the sheriff won’t consider anyone else, Molly claws through obstacles as she prowls for clues.

With help from handsome veterinarian Hank Chenowith and Molly’s two cats, Percival and Jasper, will Molly succeed in proving her uncle’s innocence before the real murderer pounces on her?

Brushed Up On Murder introduces readers to cat groomer Molly Stewart, who divides her time between her very own salon and a mobile grooming van. She's built a successful business in the small town of Whitewater Valley with a steady stream of customers, so it comes as a complete shock when she brings one of her furry clients home, only to find their owner dead in the garden. Molly becomes the new owner of now orphaned Jasper, and has her hands full trying to get her own cat Percival to accept his new brother, but that's nothing compared to the detective work she's forced to take on when her beloved uncle becomes the main suspect.

I look forward to spending more time with this fun cast of characters, and especially watching Molly's relationship with hunky vet Hank evolve!

Mudpie was very excited to have the opportunity to interview Percival & Jasper, the feline stars of this series. We hope you enjoy learning more about them!

Welcome, Percival & Jasper! Thank you so much for chatting with me today. Could you start by telling us a little about yourselves and how you each came to live with Molly?

Hi, this is Percival! Molly has been my human for a long time now. We're so close, she even takes me to work with her!
And I'm Jasper! Molly rescued me from a bad situation where I might have ended up in a pet shelter. I'm so much happier with her!

What's a typical day like for you?

Percival again. Sometimes, Molly sees clients - other cats whose humans bring them to her to be brushed and bathed. And other times she has a mobile grooming van where she goes to the humans' houses and sees the kitties there. I like those best since I get to go along for the ride!

Since your human is a mobile cat groomer, do you like it when she fusses with your fur or do you prefer taking care of those things yourselves?

It's Jasper again. Before I came to live with Molly, my other human took me to see her so she could groom me, so I love it! She always makes me look so handsome. :)

In Brushed Up On Murder, the first book in the Mobile Cat Groomer mystery series, you two don't exactly see to eye. Are you getting along?

Percival here. Jasper and I did have a rough start when Molly first brought him home. Even though I see lots of other cats at Molly's work it was the first time she'd ever brought one into our house. But Molly, with advice from her friend, Hank, helps us!

Do you lend a paw in helping Molly solve the mystery?

Percival again. Yes! Since she takes me to work with her, I got to be in on finding clues and checking out possible suspects. It was fun! And when Molly figured out who the killer was, Jasper helped too!

What are some of your favorite things to do when you're not sleuthing? (Toys, treats, nap spots...)

Jasper again. I love naps. And treats. And catnip! Molly used some catnip for Percival and me when she was trying to get us to be friends. It smelled awesome!

Can you give us any clues as to what's next for you?

Percival again. Jasper and I are still so excited that we helped solve a murder! Along with Molly, we're ready to pounce on the next one that comes along!

Feline Flashback Friday: The Standoff

Meows from Mudpie! Today for Feline Friday we're throwing it back to my big sisfur Truffles in 2015. I'll let her tell you what was going on in this fun photo...

Awhile back Mommy got a new Grumpy Cat plush and she did something very foolish...she put her in my lounger!!! I tried to act nonchalant so she wouldn't know that it bothered me, but look at how Grumps is taunting me! Don't get too comfortable there, buckaroo! That lounger is mine!

*************************************************************

Note from Mudpie: Wasn't that Truffles a cool cucumber? Washing her paw like she didn't have a care in the world. I think she was getting ready to give Miss Grumps the ol' smackeroo!

Feline Friday is simple to join. All you have to do is:

Post a picture, drawing, cartoon or video of a cat (They may be silly or cute).

Mother's Day Gift Ideas for Cat Moms from Etsy

Meows from Mudpie!

Can you believe Mother's Day is less than a month away??? I know it's going to be a tremendously difficult day for Mommy this year.

While browing Etsy for the purrfect gift for her, I found several things that any cat mom would love to receive on her special day...

Cat Shelf

Which is your favorite? I think everything here would be a hit with Mommy, but she would probably love the cowboy kitty neon sign the most. I'll need to figure out how many squeezies I would have to go without in order to pay for it.

I hope you enjoy my picks, and don't forget, if you find something here you like and make a purchase using our affiliate links, I get a little money for my piggy bank! I might even spend it on Mommy's gift!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs...

1. Trying to get Mudpie to eat wet food is like nailing jello to a wall.

2. I could use a break from medical facilities. Dad finally got home from rehab on Wednesday, then yesterday we spent 8 long hours in the ER, convinced he had pneumonia. Thankfully he doesn't.

3. I’d like to thank the women in my family for my love of cats. I come from a long line of cat ladies on my mother's side...mom, grandmother, aunt, great aunt.

4. Just in case there's ever a shortage of Mudpie's squeezies, I stockpile quite a few packages.

This is truly one of the most adorable children's books I've ever read, with an important lesson for all ages.

Aqua Paws is a kitty who loves the water, except for one thing...crabs! He fears getting pinched and avoids them at all costs. One beautiful day he and his turtle friend Purple Beak go on an adventure in the ocean, collecting treasures and picking up trash. While exploring on his own Aqua Paws finds himself in a dangerous situation and must face his greatest fears when only a crab is available to help.

The illustrations in this book are utterly charming - I went back and studied each page at least three times! Aqua Paws is just darling decked out in his diving gear, and the little crab tucked into nearly every scene was a clever twist.

Most importantly, this story warns about the harm that can come to animals when humans litter. The book ends with a few tips to help Aqua Paws preserve the ocean, and a cute craft project showing how to build a crab using a toilet paper roll. 4 paws, 2 claws, and 8 legs up!

Meet the Author:

Patricia writes stories about the ocean, cats, and friendship. With beautiful illustrations and heartfelt characters, she aims to entertain and inspire readers to feel brave, adventurous, and appreciate the environment. Patricia’s memorable characters include Aqua Paws and Purple Beak with many more on the horizon. Her fiction picture book, AQUA PAWS, has subtle hints of pollution in our oceans and children can help by collecting the harmful trash. Patricia lives in Texas with her husband. She treasures time with her two grown daughters and her grand babies Tate (Tater-Tot) and Pierce. Her love of animals, the beach and the environment is undeniable.

Easter Art & Selfies

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs...

1. I hope the Easter bunny brings me something sweet. Easter is far from my favorite holiday under the best circumstances, plus I've hardly been in a holiday frame of mind, so I haven't bought a single piece of Easter candy! I'll try to hit the half price tables on Monday.

2. I don't want the Easter bunny to bring me any hot weather. Spring temps are fine, but next week we'll be pushing 80. That's way too hot too fast!

3. I can't believe I didn't think to seek out cable alternatives until recently. Just need to figure out which streaming service(s) will be best for me.

4. Mother Nature really needs to chill out. The extreme weather everywhere is getting to be a bit much.

Feline Friday Flashback: Bathing Habits

Meows from Mudpie!

Today we're digging into the archives to April 2015 with Angel Truffles.

Mommy says Truffles was the most fastidious cat she's ever seen. That girl was constantly washing, and had constant hairballs to prove it!

I'm a little different. Of course I keep myself very clean, but I don't take a complete and thorough bath on a daily basis. If something is dirty, I wash it. Why bathe your entire body if only a couple parts need freshening up?

How about the kitties in your life? Do they take a daily bath or just wash what needs washing each day? I'm very curious!

Feline Friday is simple to join. All you have to do is:

Post a picture, drawing, cartoon or video of a cat (They may be silly or cute).

Messy Bed #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

I snapped my selfie this week from the top of my Kat Kabin. It gives me a pawsome view of all the goings-on in the living room.

Gee whiz, I probably should've made my bed before taking the picture. How embarrassing!!!

We're joining our friends at The Cat On My Head for the Sunday Selfies blog hop!
