Christmas Truffles' Purr-fect Holiday Reading List Challenge

Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas Truffles here!!! Have you ever seen a cuter Christmas elf? Mommy and I are so excited to be participating in the Ho-Ho-Ho Read-a-thon hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Book Shelfery, and even more excited to be hosting our very own Challenge! (The read-a-thon runs from November 6th to the 11th; for more information see Kimba’s post here)

Christmas is our absolute favorite time of year, and Mommy usually plans to spend the last 6 weeks of the year reading nothing but Christmas stories. A festive book, a mug of peppermint cocoa, and little ol' me beside her on the couch is Mommy's idea of Christmas bliss.

Our challenge to you is very easy: if you've joined the read-a-thon, you must love holiday-themed books, so we want to know about your favorite Christmas books. Whether it's a holiday classic or a brand new title, we want to know about it so we can add it to our holiday reading list!

Two winners will be chosen using Random.org. Please tell us in your comments as well if you prefer the mystery or romance lot. Each winner will also receive a little Santa Truffle (the chocolate kind, not me!)

Rules:

* All entries must be received by 11:59 pm EST on November 11th.

* Remember that to be eligible to win the challenge you must be signed up to participate in the Read-A-Thon.

Please check out all of the Challenges for even more chances to win:

* Bea @ Bea's Book Nook
* Trish@ Between the Lines "Name That Book"
* Sophia @ Bookwyrming Thoughts
* April @ My Shelf Confessions
* Melissa & Truffles @ Mochas, Mysteries and Meows
* Ginny @ Gin's Book Notes
* Jennifer @Book Nympho “Holiday Reading Selfie”

  2. I'm happy to see two new Sheila Roberts Christmas books in this post. Her "Nine Lives of Christmas" is one of my favorite cat Christmas books (and the movie version will premiere on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday).

  3. Christmas Truffles, you are the best little elf I've ever seen! I love Christmas books, of all kinds (and movies). I'm hoping to read "The Christmas Cat", by Melody Carlson...have it on my wish list. I have to say, I love chocolate Truffles, too! :)

  5. What a great idea!!! My favorite is The Cat Who Came for Christmas by Cleveland Amory, but you must have read that one. Carvel the Christmas Cat by John Littell is good too, but I bet you already read that one too.

  7. That sounds exactly like our Mommy's idea of bliss, too. It would be so hard to choose between mystery or romance, though!

  8. The mystery pair looks great.
    I love the old A Christmas Carol. It works so well in black and white (yes, the movie rather than the book)

  9. I definitely gravitate toward the romance books, especially for the holidays.
    My favorite holiday read is The Polar Express. My girls used to think it was so funny when I would read it to them, because I ALWAYS tear up over the end. I'm actually going to meet the author next week at a book signing, and I am already freaking out like a fangirl :)

  12. What a fun challenge! :) My favorite Christmas book is How the Grinch Stole Christmas! I know it's kind of a kid book, but my parents used to read it around the holidays and it never got old! I'd definitely prefer romance to mystery. ;) Thanks so much for this giveaway!

  14. One of my favorite Christmas stories is A Christmas Carol. I recently read a novella called Kiss Me Santa, that was really sweet and a nice romance.

    I would like the mystery set. Christmas Truffles is too cute!

  15. I've already got a bunch of Christmas romances, so I think I would pick the mysteries. My favorite Christmas books, other than A Christmas Carol, are mostly picture books, because of all the years we read them to our daughter. But I'm also very fond of Rosamunde Pilcher's Winter Solstice.

    Truffles, you look cute as a button! Tasha would be jealous, but she hates hats. She and Thomas say to tell you that they have a new cat bed. It lives in the study where I do my work and my blogging, so one of them can curl up close to me and still be comfy. (The other one gets the cat bed in the bedroom.)

  19. I think my favorite Christmas book is probably Dash & Lily's Book of Dares, its just so fun! I have a lot of new reads on my list this year so hopefully I can add some new favorites! I prefer the romance :)

  20. My favorite Christmas story is A Christmas Carol. I haven't ever read any Christmas mysteries, even though I love mystery books. I don't know why that is. Anyhow, I think I'd like to try the mysteries. Truffles is so cute! I have two little dogs that keep me company when I'm reading. Pets are wonderful.

  22. Cutest Cat pic! I love The nutcracker. I read it every year plus tons of Holiday Romance so that would be my prize choice

  24. I like 'both' mystery and romance! This year I've already read Mr Miracle by Debbie Macomber and LOVED it! It was made into a movie on the Hallmark Channel and will air on December 6th! I can't WAIT!!!! If you've seen the Mrs. Miracle books/movies, this one TRUMPS ALL of those! It's about an angel coming down from heaven and he is feeling human emotions, and some of the scenes are HILARIOUS!!! A blond fellow professor likes him, and it is making him feel funny! LOLOLOL!!!! I was in stitches!!!! His Supervising Angel, Celeste keeps having to explain to him 'this or that' about human emotions! It's GREAT! I hope the movie portrays the book as good as the book was! If you can squeeze ONE MORE Christma book in there, please do!! You'll LOVE it!!! Thanks for this Challenge!

  25. *Sigh* Confession time: our mom's not a mystery reader. (she's suuuuuuuch a geek. She reads SF and thrillers. And the books a good friend writes that have strong female characters who are pilots ;-)

    Did you watch the kitty movie on Sunday on Hallmark Channel??? And we're dying ot know what you think about next Saturday's Northpole. Please let us know, if you end up watching it?
