Tortoiseshell Cat Appreciation Day

Mommy here!

Over the past 19 years I've been the lucky cat mom to a trio of torties. To say I think these feisty, unique felines are one of God's most beautiful creations would be an understatement. I love everything about their sweet souls and tender hearts, tortitude and all.

Nowadays there's a national day set aside to celebrate just about anything you can think of, and today is Tortoiseshell Cat Appreciation Day.

For anyone interested in reading about my history with torties, it can be found in my article A Decade of Tortitude: The Magic & Mystique Of My Heart Cats, which won a Certificate of Excellence from the Cat Writers Association many years ago.

Since this is a day to turn the internet brown, tan, gold, black, cinnamon, and every tortie color in between, we thought it would be the purrfect time to share once again the very special legend explaining how they got their unique colors, loosely translated from the Spanish version.

We hope you'll join us today in sharing your torties all over social media. The internet will be a much more beautiful place over the next 24 hours now that we've given them a day to take over the world! (Officially, anyways. Anyone owned by a tortie knows they already own their little corner of the world!)

Mudpie so glad you have an international day for your beautiful fur color. All cats deserve an international day, everyday of the week! That's a lovely picture of you today too. Have a good one.

Torties are beautiful. Mom has never had one but appreciates them.

Happy Torties Day Mudpie, you are looking gorgeous. :-D

I have a Bengal, 2 pure white cats, 2 pure black cats (well one has a wee white bib) and a half black half white cat. They are all different characters. Though the 2 black cats rarely meow or talk, the other 4 are chatty chatty though!

Torties are lovely! Each one has her own look, so although I've posted two Tortie image collections on Zazzle, neither cat looks like a living Tortie. I can see why people aren't buying them. As a reminder, you can plug your own digital photo into any Zazzle printable...NO. I will NOT post a commercial link on your site, Mudpie. But you can find one on my site.
