1. I rue the day I didn't remain at the ER the night Truffles died. 

2. One thing I wish I had closure with is Truffles' death. I was unable to get back to the emergency vet in time to be with her at the end, and 10 years later I still don't know if she passed on her own or if they had to put her to sleep. 

3. The basement recently took a turn for the worse when the new furnace went in. I had to move so much around it'll be a miracle if I ever manage to find anything ever again! On the plus side, in one week I made 3 trips to Goodwill and one trip to the landfill with stuff I no longer needed or wanted! 

4. My living room has improved thanks to Mudpie's new cat tree. I've had stacks and stacks of old VHS tapes piled up in the corner (without even a working VCR) but those had to go to make room for the cat tree. I have kept all my DVDs though, and even finally hooked my DVD player up to the new TV I got back in late 2024.

Woohoo, we've almost made it through meteorological winter! It's supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow (heat wave!), then in the 20s on Sunday and Monday, then climbing back up through next week. We're not out of the woods yet though - our area is notorious for getting a big storm in mid March. We did manage to escape the northeast blizzard without a single flake, thankfully. We still have a lot of snow on the ground from previous storms though. It'll be quite awhile before any grass pokes through! 

My blooper this month is a real doozy. Not only is it blurry, but what a hideous expression on my normally precious little face! I have no idea what was going on to illicit such a reaction. More than likely Mommy was denying me a snack.

3. For me, my driveway and yard bring back memories of Mo. I'm glad he's not having to struggle through this hard winter, but I'll miss seeing him out there terribly come spring.

4. Mudpie is the only thing keeping me from having more cats. She demands to be an only child, and she has more than earned the right to rule the roost!

My New (Used) Cat Tree!

Monday morning Mommy was browsing our local Buy Nothing group on Facebook and spotted this beauty! She's been wanting to get me a cat tree, preferable a pink one, for some time now, but kept putting it off. It's like it was fate! 

Several people expressed interest in it, but the nice lady picked me! Mommy went and picked it up on Tuesday but left it in the car because our new furnace was being installed on Wednesday. 

Yesterday afternoon she dragged it into the house all by herself (it's 5' tall and quite heavy) and set it up in the dining room. She put me on it and I instantly *loved* it!!!

For a number of reasons it's not staying in the dining room though. Mainly it's too big for the space, but also it's in front of the window where the air conditioner goes in the summer. Plus the middle platform which will allow me the best view outside is too high up for me to jump to by myself (I'm no spring chicken!) So Mommy wants to put it in our big living room window right next to the couch so I can step from the couch right onto the platform, which means she needs to move some furniture around!

I've been pretty bored this winter without my sunny door to lounge in so Mommy was super excited to get this for me.

Remembering Sashi, 20 Years Later #SundaySelfie

20 years ago today I lost a part of my heart when Sashi left for the Bridge. She was my first little girl, the first cat in my life that came from a shelter, and the first cat I adopted on my own as an adult. (She was a cat of many firsts for me, but she was also a last - the last cat I had that wasn't a tortie!)

She had been given up by her family at 9 years old. I was told many people thought she was beautiful but passed her by because of her age. Week after week I went past her cage at the PetSmart adoption center until I finally realized she was waiting for me. We were blessed to have 8 wonderful years together. Her passing in 2006 tore my heart into a million pieces. She was the first cat that was truly mine, and I felt like I had lost a child as she slipped away beside me on the couch after a lengthy illness.

That box was her favorite napping spot. I still have it.

Unlike my other ladycats, Sashi enjoyed playing dress up. She would let me put anything on her.

Her favorite treat was canned whipped cream. On birthdays we put a candle in it.

And nothing made her happier than a nice, warm blankie. She had a collection of cozy fleeces!

I have no doubt that Sashi was the first kitty waiting at the Bridge when Tara and Truffles arrived, and that they have a daily catnip klatch! I hope they all know how much they're still remembered and loved.

In this one she asked for a caricature of me drinking coffee. Look at the fuzzy pink robe they put me in! We absolutely adore it (especially Mommy!)

1. I nap with Mudpie for fun.

2. I am tired of seeing anything about the Olympics, Super Bowl, Grammys...pretty much everything pop culture that people care about right now.

3. I once had the crazy idea to put in the window AC in by myself, and it worked. It was ridiculously hot and I was waiting for Dad to come home from work to help me put it in. I got tired of waiting and decided to try lifting it myself, and I did (without even giving myself a hernia!) 

4. I spoke too soon when I said that Mudpie was back to normal. I was just telling a friend on Thursday evening that she was finally back to herself, I even laid the bathroom rug back down, then Friday morning she started straining again.
