Meows from Mudpie!
This is kind of embarrassing, but since the beginning of the year I've been having trouble "overshooting the runway" in my litter box. It used to happen every now and then but it's been happening so frequently Mommy needed to put a heavy towel and puppy pad under the box. She's watched me do it and says I squat too close to the edge. Plus, it's a regular sized box and I'm not a regular sized kitty!
She finally gave up hoping the situation would improve, so last week she bought me the biggest litter box she could find. When she brought it home after running a bunch of errands she was pooped out and left it on the living room floor with the rest of her purchases to rest awhile.
What did I do?
So how have things gone? Even in an extra-large box I squat too close to the edge, so when I stand in the box lengthwise all is well (so far, anyways), but when I use it in the opposite direction I still pee over the edge. So the towel and puppy pad remain.

When Carmine was a kitten, he'd actually curl up and sleep in his dirty litter box. So icky. At least you had a nap in a nice clean one!
Funny but not funny. I guess sweetie pie that you need to not put your hiney so close to the edge. Precious has been very bad about not putting sand over her stinky. And sometimes they are really stinky.
Mom bought a plastic splash guard for ours since we do the same thing. It's not purrfect but it helps and does not close in the box.
It was a nice try. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Mom will make sure you're covered at all times. Our Lil' Bit does this now and then. We get it.

Mudpie, we have a similar problem with Henry, so there are puppy pee pads taped to the wall.

Maybe Mom can get you a littlerbox with tall sides, Mudpie. We used to have that for some of our angels.
OMC sweet Mudpie, you probably need a housing surrounding you. When Granny cleans our litter boxes, Peachy wants to try it immediately without the housing and also pees outside of itšDouble Pawkisses for a Happy Day to you and your mommy tooš¾š½š
I bought very large, high sided Rubbermaid totes, the kind you’d pack stuff in to put in the attic or something, and cut out part of one side. They’re inside the whole thing when they step over, and it helps.
