Meows from Mudpie!
I haven't provided a medical update in a little while so here goes...
When I was having my tushie troubles in January there were a few occasions when I peed small amounts on the living room carpet, something I had never, ever done before. Well, I'm kinda embarrassed to admit that over the past couple weeks I've been doing it on a regular basis in the same area. Not small amounts either, but emptying my entire bladder there. Mommy was very patient with me (even though she told me it had to stop), and laid down a piece of plastic, puppy pads, and a baking pan as a temporary litter box. I would always do my number twos in my litter box in the bathroom, but I rarely peed there.
Mommy was convinced I either had a UTI or my diabetes had come out of remission, so last week she brought a urine sample to the vet for a urinalysis. We got the results on Tuesday and there was no infection present, and no sugar either, which was pawsome news!
With no apparent medical reason for my "accidents" Mommy knew I was peeing on the floor because even though she cleaned it up immediately each time, I could still smell it and the plastic and puppy pads were telling me it was OK. She went right to the store and got some Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer, Dr Elsey's litter attractant, and a brand new litter box. Yesterday morning she picked up the plastic and puppy pads, thoroughly cleaned the carpet, and put the new litter box back in the same spot. (Not ideal to have a litter box in the living room, but better than using the carpet as a toilet!)
So far, it's working! I gave the whole area a big snifferoo and hopped right into my new litter box. Mommy was very happy that I remembered how to potty like a lady!
On another note, the vet wants me to try a prescription kidney diet but Mommy is very apprehensive because it has a much higher carb content than Fancy Feast. It's a catch 22 - by trying to protect my kidneys the diabetes could make a return appearance. For now Mommy is putting some Kidney Gold in my food each day and we'll see if that makes any difference in my bloodwork next time.
It's no fun getting old!

Hooray for using the proper place to go, Mudpie! We hope your kidney issues and Diabetes will somehow benefit form whatever ypur Mom and vet decide to do, its well monitored so you'll do fine.
Amen to your last sentence, Mudpie. We're sorry you're having these peeing issues, and hope things clear up soon. I'm fortunate in that I haven't had things like that happen yet, although mom and dad recently brought me in for a physical, and the vet offered some feeding advice, which brought about a similar kidney/calorie/carb conundrum. Keep us posted, sweet girl.
Mudpie we were glad to see an update about what's happening lately. The good news is you're not sick. Bad news is Mommy spent a lot of time cleaning the carpet, lol. It sounds like between the two of you you figured out the best solution. Sometimes just to change of litter box or in a different place can make a whole world a difference. You be sure to be a good girl for Mommy and eat your food.
Good update Mudpie. Your mummy is very kind. Glad you are okay. You kitties are funny little things when it comes to litter boxes and such. You are looking gorgeous in that photo :-D
Feline smellers are so much more effective than human's.
Paws crossed that this saves the carpet.
We're glad to hear the new box and litter seems to be helping you, Mudpie!
I'm so happy to hear that things are working better on the potty front sweet Mudpie, you're a loved special girl. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I wonder if you are missing your Grandpa and this was behavioral. I am glad you are doing better. XO
I’m glad you and your mom were able to solve the problem. Yes, it’s true, once a pet has “gone” in a spot, it seems to be a sign it’s okay to keep doing it.
Great news about you and your mom figuring out how to solving that issue, Mudpie!
We hope you continue to getting better, sweet Mudpie🙏🏼Here are some Healing Pawkisses for you and your mommy too🐾😙💞
