Cat's Meow Mews & Mailbox #17

Cat's Meow Mailbox is inspired by the great weekly recap book memes (Mailbox MondayWaiting On WednesdayIt’s Monday! What are you reading? and Sunday Post)

It's been an exciting and eventful end of 2013/beginning of 2014. New Years Day is traditionally spent at the farm my father grew up on for our big holiday family gathering. My aunt is a crafter-extraordinaire and this year since it's so bitterly cold outside she planned a craft project for anyone who wanted to participate. Even though I try from time to time, I don't particularly consider myself a crafter, but would you believe I made a wool feather tree? I just love Victoriana and am so proud of how it turned out:

On Tuesday I purchased a custom domain name from Go Daddy and on Thursday I set it up. All by myself with the help on an online tutorial. In two days I successfully completed a big craft project and a big blog project...world domination just might be next for this girl! We'll be telling you more about our new name change tomorrow :)

We also received two great honors this week...Truffles is featured over on Rascal and Rocco's Pet Parade Blog Hop in her New Year's finery AND we were named the BlogPaws Featured Blogger of the month (more on this to come!)

I hope you're all staying warm and are spending your time cuddled up with a good book and a kitty :) 58 consecutive hours in my neck of the woods was below zero this week! I can take the cold a lot better than I can take the heat, but my heart breaks when I think about the stray animals out there without a warm home to go to. I found this neat idea online yesterday and think it's important to pass along:

Happy New Year and congrats on the featured blogger of the month, that's awesome. Hope the weather lets up soon, it's been cold here too and only going to get worse from what I hear. :(

Good luck with the name change too!

Concats on being featured blogger of the month! We love the idea of the styrofoam coolers as cost-effective feral shelters.

Brrr, we weren't that cold. We just had had several days of single digit temps with nights in the negative numbers. That was more than enough for me.

Congrats on being the featured blogger of the month, that's wonderful.I'm looking forward to hearing more about the domain name change and blog news.

I hate thinking about all the animals out in the cold! It's horrible. I wish I had a cat to snuggle with, but I guess I'll have to see if my dog will cuddle up. :)

Our local shelters use that cooler idea a lot for the feral kitties! They had a workshop last year before the now came to help people build them.
Stay warm, sweet friends!!!
Congrats on a wonderful 2013 and an already pawsome start to 2014!

LOVE that wool feather tree! Congratulations onthe BlogPaws honor, and to Truffles for being featured in the Parade. Very cool!

This weather makes us worry about the animals outside, too. Thank you for sharing about how to make these shelters for ferals. Stay warm, dear friends.
