Miss Grumps #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

Thank you for joining us for this month's edition of the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop! Is it just me or has this month been really long? Seems like the summer months always are, at least to us. (But Christmas is 6 months from today...just sayin'!)

For the past several days Mommy has been tearing her hair out trying to switch her parents' landline phone to a new carrier after their monthly bill jumped from $28 to $54! That seemed like such a waste of money since 98% of their calls are robocalls, so she went to our local big box store and bought a home phone base station through a cell carrier that they could plug their phone into.

BIG MISTAKE! After 3 hours on the phone with customer support talking to people in overseas call centers she couldn't even understand, the box was deemed defective. She ordered a second one online which arrived on Tuesday, called to activate it, and was given some song and dance that it hadn't been scanned properly in the warehouse so it couldn't be activated and she would need to get yet another!

Let's just say Mount Mommy erupted, told the company exactly what she thought of them, and went out and bought her parents a simple flip phone they could port their home number to through a different carrier! (I bet not many people can say they've had 3 phone carriers in less than 2 weeks!)

Anyways...onto more important things, like ME! All the photo fails you see here today were taken while I was trying to snap some selfies. With so many grumpy looks on my face you would think I was the one trying to deal with people on the phone!

Those are my bloopers...let's see yours!

Cat World Domination Day 2021

Meows from Mudpie!

Did you know that today is a very special day? It's Cat World Domination Day, a day for us kitties to celebrate our world domination!

Today I wanted to show you the latest way I'm dominating my little world.

You've all seen my beloved pizza box. Mommy gave it to me last month to snap a quick pic for National Pizza Party Day and I've been obsessed with it ever since. It now lives on our kitchen floor and Mommy has to step over it a billion times per day.

In order to get it slightly out of her way she's placed it right in front of the fridge, which works out great because the sun pours in on me from the back door. But then there's another snag...when I'm laying on top of it she can't fully open the fridge door (something about not being able to clear my belly), and of course she doesn't dare make me move, so she opens it just a few inches so she can slip an arm in to grab what she needs.

The other night when these pictures were taken she was trying to clean up from dinner and had to cram everything into the left side of the fridge because that's all she could reach. When I moved later that evening she opened the door fully and put everything in its proper place! MOL

Oh, and do you see that sad looking scratcher in the picture too? That was my very first scratcher and Mommy tried to throw it out a few years ago because I tore it up so bad, but when I found it in the kitchen before she took it out to the trash I started using it there, and still use it to this day, so that lives on our kitchen floor now too.

Yep...I'm a dominator for sure!

Don't forget to visit Summer's blog to join in all the fun and festivities of Cat World Domination Day. I understand there's going to be a pawsome party!

Unboxing June's CatLadyBox

The theme of June's CatLadyBox was Pool Pawty...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist: Denisn't, a self taught illustrator and cat lady who lives in the Italian countryside with her inspiration and model, a blue point cat named Lampo.

Cool Cat Beach Towel: Since I'm not a beach person this will be used as a blanket on the bed come fall. (Fall, please come quickly! I'm over summer already.)

Flocking Fabmewlous Tee: How adorable is the kitty blending in with the flamingos?!?!?!

Silicone Kitty Purse: I've never used a silicone purse before but one shaped like a cat face is the purrfect place to start!

Cat Lady Luggage Tags: I'm absolutely crazy about the print on these luggage tags, and on the decorative box too!

Flamazing Flamingo & Jilly the Chilly Pop Catnip Toy: Some of Mudpie's favorite toys are little stuffies like this that we scatter around the house for her to find while passing through :)

International Box Day #CaturdayArt

Meows from Mudpie on one of the happiest days of the year for us kitties...International Box Day!!!

Since today is also Caturday Art day Mommy took one of her favorite "box pictures" of me and applied a bunch of different effects to it. She loves the rays of light coming from my cute little paw.

This picture was taken shortly after I moved here to my forever home, and I've enjoyed lots of great boxes since then!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. If I could trade places with someone for a day, I would trade with someone involved in cat rescue. They're my heroes.

2. I would like to own a jukebox someday.

3. I can't stand the heat and bugs this time of the year.

4. Christmas in July is my favorite thing about this time of the year.

Fun Feline Finds: Garfield & Pooky Enesco Music Box

Garfield has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. The original "crabby tabby," I identify with him in so many ways...we both love lasagna, hate mornings, and love spending hours curled up in front of the TV doing nothing.

Through the years I've collected nearly every Garfield book that's been released, numerous stuffed animals and figurines, household items like mugs and teapots, and loads of Christmas ornaments. (In the early days before the strips were collected in book form my mom would clip them out of the newspaper and glue them in notebooks for me. I still have those notebooks and will always treasure them!)

While I'm not adding to my collection as frequently as I used to, every now and then a piece catches my eye and I just have to have it, which was exactly the case earlier this week when I stumbled upon this Enesco figurine on eBay.

Other than Garfield himself his beloved teddy bear Pooky is my favorite character. Pooky brings out the soft side of Garfield and I always look forward to the strips that feature them together. This music box showing them dancing to I Could Have Danced All Night is so ridiculously adorable I couldn't resist. I just can't help but smile when I look at it.

Tomorrow is Garfield the Cat Day (and his 43rd birthday!)

See, Mommy? My Ear is Purrfect

Meows from Mudpie!

Last Monday morning Mommy noticed that I seemed to be having trouble with my left ear. I kept pawing and scratching at it, letting the ear droop and shaking my head. Her first thought was mites but couldn't imagine where I could've gotten them, plus I was only favoring the one ear. She came home from work and I was doing the same thing so she got a flashlight out to see if she could see anything obvious going on in there. It wasn't inflamed or smelly to indicate an infection and while it was a bit greasy/oily there was no dark discharge. She decided to see how it was on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning was much the same but I was acting completely normal otherwise, eating fine, just totally annoyed with my left ear. She started talking about calling the V-E-T that afternoon but decided to try cleaning my ear out with a cotton ball first. She didn't get much to show for her efforts but something must've worked because ever since then my ear has been perfectly fine!

It's been a week now and she's keeping an eye out for any signs that it's bothering me again, but so far, so good!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. I am overdue to visit the dentist. The dentist I went to my whole life retired (and has subsequently passed away), and after going to his replacement a few times I developed such a dislike for him that I refuse to go back so I'm in a bit of a limbo until I find a new one.

2. I am so sick of the heat. We've already had multiple days over 90 degrees and it's only early June. More than once our local meteorologist has said we've been one of the hottest areas in the country...in Vermont!!!

3. Peanut butter and strong cheese on a cracker is a strange snack I like to eat.

4. A bag of old ALF comic books is one of the most random things I own. LOVE that alien!

Fun Feline Finds: Ready for Summer Right Meow Pitcher & Tumbler Set

Meows from Mudpie?

Do you have a Christmas Tree Shop near you? It's one of Mommy's favorite stores, and contrary to popular belief they are not exclusively a Christmas store (although they sure have pawsome Christmas stuff during the holidays when she visits weekly) which is why they added "and That!" to their logo.

Check out what she found there this week...a huge "Ready for Summer Right Meow!" plastic pitcher ($3.49) and tumbler set ($2.99 for 6) featuring sassy kitties lounging on the beach with their tunatinis!

While we're most definitely NOT ready for summer, and never will be, everything was so adorable of course she brought it home. I predict Mommy will be filling ours with iced coffee all summer long!

Cat Pawsitive Pro Final Articles

Meows from Mudpie!

Back in April we shared links to the articles Mommy has been writing for Jackson Galaxy's Cat Pawsitive Pro program, and last month we were excited to show the special thank you gift she received for being a part of the writing team. All too soon the final articles have been posted and the semester is all done. This was such a pawsome experience for Mommy and she completely fell in love with the kitties she wrote about.

All of the articles for this semester can be read here, and the links to Mommy's articles can be found below. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as she enjoyed writing them!

Monday Mischief: The Poopy Pizza Box

Meows from Mudpie!

Yes, the pizza box is still on our kitchen floor. I've been sleeping on it every single day and Mommy hasn't had the heart to take it from me so she just steps around it.

But on Saturday afternoon something horrible happened. I had to make a litter box deposit and a you-know-what got stuck to my little bottom. I rubbed my tushie on the bathroom rug to dislodge the you-know-what, but only managed to spread it up my tail!

In a panic I streaked through the house and landed on my beloved pizza box, but when I sat down on it the you-know-what left a stain there too!!!

Needless to say, I got a massive butt wash and combing, and Mommy even washed off my pizza box with a bit of soap, but for a few hours I avoided the box. When I finally got back on it I stayed on the half that hadn't been soiled. By evening it had aired out sufficiently that I slept there all night. (I punished Mommy for the butt wash by not sleeping with her.)

I hope your weekend was less stressful than mine!

Just Rolled Outta Bed #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Mommy helped me snap this selfie right after we got up yesterday morning. I had been sound asleep, likely dreaming because I was twitching and making cute little noises. Then I woke up and immediately had a camera in my face. How rude! Mommy, give a girl time to pull herself together in the morning! Good thing I look amazing any time of day or night :)

Remembering Conway #CaturdayArt

Meows from Mudpie!

Today is the 28th anniversary of Mommy's beloved Conway's death so we decided to get artsy with one of her favorite photos of us together from a couple years ago. She says she can't tell if I'm looking at him thinking, "What is the big deal about you, anyways?" or if maybe he's growing on me. (I'll never tell!)

PS - Mommy has a really nice post filled with lots of memories over on her Conway blog today, for anyone interested!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. House centipedes creep(s) me out. I try to gently move most bugs outside where they belong, but those things instantly meet my shoe.

2. I could use a refresher class in parallel parking. Unlike so many I never had any trouble with parallel parking when I was learning to drive but haven't done it since taking my driving test and don't know if I could do it after all this time.

3. Life would be much simpler if people were more like animals.

4. I would like to display more of my collectibles, but first I have to do quite a bit more decluttering.

Hug Your Cat Day Friday Flashback

Meows from Mudpie!

Did you know that today is Hug Your Cat Day?

Wait a minute...we celebrate that *everyday* at our house!

Last month Mommy completely forgot Angel Tara's 14th Gotcha Day until it was too late to post anything. In the back of her mind she knew May 20th was a memorable day for some reason but with everything going on with my grandma and grandpa it didn't click until that very afternoon what it was.

So today we decided to do a belated Gotcha Day/Hug Your Cat Day/Flashback Friday post!

This isn't a great picture of Mommy and Tara together but it's the only one she has. It was taken on Christmas Eve 2012 and was a very bittersweet day for Mommy because she knew it would be their last Christmas together. Six months later Tara ran off for the Rainbow Bridge. (Can you see the cute little reindeer antlers she's wearing? I have a feeling they're still around here somewhere waiting to resurface.)

Lots of us kitties don't like being picked up and get really squirmy when forced to submit, but we really should allow it at least once so a good picture can be taken. It ends up meaning the world to our peeps.

Unboxing May's CatLadyBox

The theme of May's CatLadyBox was Cat Mom's Day...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist: Gabi Toma, cat mom to Stela and Sonia, and creator of Noir, an imaginary black cat with a passion for treats and naps.

Flat Cat Vase: One of my favorite CatLadyBox items ever. The back even has a tail! It now has a permanent spot on a table in my living room and I plan to change it out seasonally with dried flowers. (Live plants and flowers don't do well with me. Dried ones are already dead.)

Swell Cat Mom Tee: Purrfectly purple! I've already worn this shirt with pride several times.

Cat Cuff Bracelet: Judging by Facebook comments I don't think I was alone in wondering what this bracelet had to do with cats, but I finally found cat faces hiding on the ends.

Dinopurr Catnip Toy: Mudpie couldn't wait to smother this little guy as soon as we took him out of the box!

Purrfect Rose Catnip Toy: Because The Rose is such a special song to me, Mudpie has allowed me to keep this toy with my Conway collection. Wasn't that sweet of her?
