Unboxing March's CatLadyBox

The theme of March's CatLadyBox was Beautiful Day...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist Draw An

Stay Home with Cats Shirt: This shirt is so perfectly ME. Even on the most beautiful day you can imagine I would rather stay at home with Mudpie.

Flat Cat Garden Kitty: No way is this going outside where I can't see and enjoy it everyday! It's staying right in the living room among my other cat-themed decor. I was surprised how many cat moms on social media have said the same thing!

Purrfect Cat Picnic Blanket: I can't remember the last time I went on a picnic but this makes me want to!

Shamrock & Spring Chick Catnip Toys: The chick (especially his little legs) are ridiculously cute, and they way Mudpie has played with the shamrock cracks me up - leaf down, she bats at the stem sticking up.

(Hopefully) Healing #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

I haven't been feeling great the past few days. On Tuesday night I was sitting in the living room and out of nowhere let out a loud gag. (I wasn't even eating anything.) This continued a few times on Wednesday, and by Thursday and Friday I was also coughing, gulping, making lots of noises in my throat, and generally not acting like my typical happy self.

Oh, and my beautiful tortie voice disappeared too! When I meowed either nothing came out or it was really raspy!

This picture was taken Friday afternoon. You can see in my eyes I wasn't feeling well.

I got super clingy with Mommy (even more so than usual). She was glad she's working from home now so she could keep a close eye on me, and warned if I wasn't back to normal by Monday she would be calling the V-E-T.

I don't know if it was an asthma flare up, allergies ('tis the season), or maybe a URI, but as we type this on Saturday I seem to be feeling and acting much more like myself, minus all the strange sound effects that have been coming out of me.

Paws crossed that's all behind me now. It's no fun feeling crummy!

2. I am not a fan of competition.

Mudpie's answers:

3. I am excited when spring has sprung. Even though I miss cuddling with Mommy, I love window whiffies and soaking in the sun!

4. I would like everyone to know that my Mommy loves me more than anything in the world.

Sourpuss #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

Thank you for joining us for this month's edition of the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop!

In this photo Mommy was trying to capture how cute I was as I gazed up at her after jumping into my new CatLadyBox. Instead she caught me looking like a regular ol' sourpuss! The look on my face in NO way reflects how I felt about the contents of the box...

That's my photo fail...let's see yours!

Utility Box Cat Art

My city is known for its artsy utility boxes. I often glance at them while driving by or waiting at a stop light, but admittedly never pay that much attention to detail.

Saturday afternoon after getting groceries I decided to run into Burger King to pick up dinner, and when driving through the parking lot I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted one with a cat painted on it!!!

The crazy thing about this is I've driven by (and stopped in) this Burger King countless times since the utility box painting began, and I never noticed it before. I'm not always the most observant person in the world, but I sure would love to know how long it has been there!

Let's take a trip back in time to revisit some classic country music from the 1970's, the decade I was born...

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mudpie's answers:

1. My spring to do list includes soaking up the sun and lots of window whiffies.

2. If I were invisible for a day, I would eat all the squeezies I could hold and no one would know.

Mommy's answers:

3. I rarely pay full price for anything I don't absolutely need, I wait for it to go on sale instead.

4. When I was young, I didn't enjoy roller skating outings at school because I was scared. All through grade school we would be treated to a day at the local roller skating rink at the end of each semester. For years and years I was too scared to go out on the rink and instead would skate on the carpet (LOL). Finally by 6th or 7th grade I decided to give it a try, loved it, became a speed demon, then grade school ended. I haven't skated since :(

St. Catty's Day, 5 Years Ago

Officially known as the "Pi Day" storm, 5 years ago on March 14-15 our neck of the woods got dumped with 30" of snow, making it the second largest storm on record!

The cleanup continued well into St. Patrick's Day, leading us to create this cute little graphic.

I've looked at this countless times in the past 5 years, and it still cracks me up every single time. Thankfully there are no leprechauns buried in our back yard this year. In fact, Mudpie just spotted one taking a sunbath as it's nearly 60 degrees out there today!

Mudpie Interviews...Persephone from Bailey Booth's Spy Kitty in the City Mystery Series

I always dreamed of being a part of my favorite show, Parking Lot Potluck, but I never expected them to ask me to help solve a murder.

Someone poisoned a dish on the popular cooking competition show. The host is dead and my favorite judge is in critical condition. The only one who witnessed the crime was Great Dane, Chloe.

Persephone and I are off to Seattle to solve the crime, but things are much different behind the scenes. Have the cast and crew been working on a recipe for deception, or was it a contestant with a case of sour grapes who’s brought production to a halt?

And Chloe isn’t talking to my talking cat.

Whatever I do, I have to keep my inner fangirl in check, or my favorite show could get eliminated for good.

Mudpie was very excited to have the opportunity to interview Persephone, the feline star of this series. We hope you enjoy meeting her!

Welcome, Persephone! Thank you so much for chatting with me today. Could you start by telling us a little about yourself and how you came to live with Addie?

Hi, Mudpie! Nice to meet you. I’m a ten-year-old black cat with white legs. Margaret, my old owner, used to call me Purry Pants. I didn’t like it. But I did like her.

I met Addie when I got catnapped after an art heist Margaret’s art gallery. Someone taped me into a cardboard box, and left me at Addie’s shelter. Imagine my surprise when she could understand me! I didn’t think humans could understand cats. When I told her what happened, we worked together to find the stolen painting. Margaret thought I should stay with Addie, and we found a cat at the shelter that was perfect for her.

What's a typical day like for you?

It depends on where we are. If we’re working at Helping Paws, I talk to the shelter animals and find out if they’re happy or if there’s anything they need. Human makes appointments to meet me, and then I tell Addie which of our animals would be best for them to adopt.

If we’re working on a case, we travel to new places. Addie talks to the people involved with the case, and I talk to the animals who saw what happened. Sometimes, they’re afraid to talk to me because they’re protecting their human. I try to pick up on scents too. Sometimes those help Addie find the bad guy.

Do you enjoy being able to talk to your human and other animals?

I like that I can talk to both, because they can’t talk to each other. Addie tries to make everyone at Helping Paws as happy as possible, but she had no way to know that something wasn’t right. So I like fixing things.

Are there any downsides, or times you wish you were just an ordinary kitty?

The thing I don’t like about our cases is that Addie puts me on a leash when we go out. She says it’s for my own good, but it’s so embarrassing.

Tell us about Potluck and Poison, the new Spy Kitty in the City Mystery you star in.

Someone got murdered on Addie’s favorite TV show, and we’re going inside the TV to help find out who did it. Addie says we’re not actually going inside the TV, we’re headed to Seattle, but I still don’t quite understand how the show gets in the TV. I need to talk to a Great Dane named Chloe who saw the crime, but the problem is, Chloe doesn’t like cats. So I’m worried I might not be able to help Addie this time.

Can you give us any clues as to what's next for you and Addie?

We’ll be back at Helping Paws finding homes for animals until the next case comes in!

Pay Attention to ME!!! #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Have you ever heard Toby Keith's song I Wanna Talk About Me? Mommy says that should be my theme song, because every time she's talking on the phone or to someone here in the house and not paying proper attention to me, I start yelling.

This week she managed to capture photographic proof. What do you think? Am I telling her that if she's not talking about me or *to* me, it's not worth talking about, or am I just trying to join the conversation?

And now our weekly answers (all answered by Mommy this week) for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. I love that Mudpie is so clingy. She always wants to be near me, preferably on me, and if she doesn't know where I am in the house she calls out for me.

2. To celebrate pi day on Monday, I will have a slice of Mudpie. Or lots and lots of extra cuddles and kisses!

3. I’d like to be able to eat pizza every day.

4. If I ended up in jail, it would probably be because I saw an animal being abused and intervened. Depending on how things went, I likely wouldn't be very kind to the human(s) involved.

Thankful Thursday: Stocking Up

Meows from Mudpie!

For most of her life Mommy has had a really bad habit of going to the store and picking up just one of anything she needs, always assuming it would still be there the next time she needed it again. That all started to change thanks to my squeezie addiction. For much of last year it was so hard to find that whenever she saw it at the store she would pick up several packages, even when I was well stocked.

Now thanks to the state our crazy world is in with empty store shelves and rising prices, she's turned over a new leaf! She goes to the store and buys multiples of everything she needs. If it's on sale she buys even more, and if the price has gone up and it's not a matter of life and death, she leaves it on the shelf.

Most importantly, instead of buying individual packages of squeezies (which have gone up in price like everything else), she's buying them by the CASE for me while they're still in stock at a reasonable price!!!

This picture was taken a couple weeks ago as I was checking out my loot. I still had 2 cases left over from Christmas, and last week she ordered 3 more cases while the price remained the same. She's contemplating buying a few more...

I just might be stocked up for the next apocalyptic event that hits us, and judging by the way things are going, that's probably right around the corner!

We would like to send lots of purrs, prayers, and good wishes out to Brian's Home blog, host of the Thankful Thursday blog hop. On Monday they lost their beautiful Dolly unexpectedly to a blood clot, and the next day dad Terry needed to have emergency appendectomy surgery.

Unboxing February's CatLadyBox

The theme of February's CatLadyBox was Meowlentine's Day...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist Youksy: This was inspired by the artist's cat, named Melissa!

You Had Me at Meow Shirt: Adore the color, adore the saying. Mudpie most definitely had me at meow.

Sweetheart Cat Necklace: Such a sweet and understated way to profess your love of cats. And it's pink!

Ombre Cats Wine Tumbler: I'll be filling this up with iced coffee this summer!

Prisma Cat Bed: This is SO beautiful, and we don't have anything like it. I've tucked it away for when it gets a little warmer because Mudpie is pretty addicted to her winter blankies right now, but I know she's going to love it.

Fortune Cookie Catnip Toy: I think Mudpie has been crazier over this than any other CatLadyBox catnip toy she's gotten. She was frantic to pull it out the box, wouldn't give me time to clip off the tag, and promptly nipped herself into a frenzy...followed by a nap.

A Stuffie Ussie #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Mommy pawsitively squeeed when she walked into the bedroom and found me cuddled up with one of my stuffie friends. She insisted we take an ussie, and we agreed so we could go back to whatever it was we were doing before she so rudely interrupted :)

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. I would rather smell a skunk than smell cigarette smoke. It gives me an instant headache.

2. Every March I look forward to mud season. Obviously I'm joking, but "mud season" in Vermont is definitely a thing, when the snow melts and everything becomes brown, squishy, and downright gross. Our local news even asks people to send in mud season pictures and calls them "muddies"!!!

Mudpie's answers:

3. I knew I was addicted the moment that I tasted my first squeezie.

4.  Knowing that pretty soon my warm, sunny doors and windows will be open is currently my silver lining.

Dr. Seuss Day 2022: Torties Just Wanna Have Fun

Meows from Mudpie!

Today we're taking part in the annual celebration of Dr Seuss' birthday, also known as National Read Across America Day.

Oddly enough, I think this is the very first time we've done a Cat in the Hat themed post! Usually we choose to feature the Grinch, but since I'm such a fun-loving tortie we decided to choose a photo to go with this famous Dr. Seuss quote. Mommy says it sounds like something I would say!

Check out more fun posts in the Dr Seuss Day Blog Hop hosted by Comedy Plus!
