And now our answers (all answered by Mommy this week) for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. I would like to improve my computer and photography skills. I've been blogging for nearly 9 years now and those are still two things I struggle with.

2. My air conditioner is already up and running for the season. The last 4 days have already been ungodly hot so on Wednesday the portable AC went in. I just can't handle suffering from the heat on top of everything else, and poor Mudpie was melting too.

3. My current to-do list includes switching home phone carriers. I am done with the 2 companies that have put me through hell for the past 3 weeks and can hardly wait to tell them so. Plus I plan to file a complaint to the FCC.

4. I finally signed up for cable internet. After years of sticking with DSL I got an amazing deal with Xfinity. Now I just need to wait for my modem/router to come from Amazon and pray I can set it up myself.

Me & My Squeezies #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

Another month is in the rear view mirror, making it time once again for the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop!

It recently occurred to us that I've never posed with my beloved squeezies (possibly because I'm too busy eating them to think about modelling), but one night while I was laying on my favorite squeezie-eating table waiting for one to be served up, the purrfect opportunity presented itself.

Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling cooperative. I just turned my head away in disgust, perturbed that Mommy was lollygagging around while I was desperate for my favorite treat. Better luck next time, Mommy!

That's my blooper! Let's see yours!

Unboxing May's CatLadyBox

The theme of May's CatLadyBox was Cat Mom's Day...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist: Frederique Matti

Cat Mom Tote: I change purses/bags by the season, so this came at the purrfect time!

Cat's Meow Raglan Tee: I love 3/4 sleeve shirts and had planned to debut this one right on Mother's Day...which ended up being freezing cold with snow flurries. Now temps are near 90 and it's too hot to wear longer sleeves. Some day I'll get to show it off!

Brilliant Cat Pendant: This necklace is so dainty and lovely. It will look just as good with a pair of jeans as with a dressy outfit, which is very important for a girl like me who hates to dress up!

Cinnamon Roll & Tulip Catnip Toys: We had an "incident" at our house when we pulled these two toys out of the box. Mudpie was so eager to get to them she accidentally nicked my finger with her nail! I'm thrilled they made her so happy and didn't mind one bit.

Flower Tortie #MewsicMovesMe

The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is songs about flowers or gardens. Music aside, isn't this picture of Mudpie in a flower frame a masterpiece? I threw it together in 30 seconds and just love it to pieces!

I have to start with a Conway song I've featured before, but it's extra special to me because it's the song that made me fall in love with him 30 years ago. The first time I heard it I thought his voice was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, and that opinion never has nor never will change.

We hope you enjoyed our picks this week!

Caturday Art

Meows from Mudpie!

Keep your paws crossed but in a few days we might have our Internet issues sorted out. In the meantime this week we created some simple artwork using Photofunia. Happy unofficial start of summer!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mudpie's answers:

1. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the offices of our ISP this week. Whoa, Mommy went bonkers on them! I was proud of her but she kinda scared me too!

2. I am missing cuddling with Mommy and blankies. It's already getting too hot and I've stopped sleeping on Mommy's pillow too, which I just started doing a month ago and we both loved.

Mommy's answers:

3. I could use more serenity in my life.

4. I could do without so much stress. Couldn't we all?

Flashback Feline Friday: Tara the Exhibitionist

Since we were celebrating Tara's Gotcha Day on Wednesday I wanted to share one of my favorite flashbacks starring her once again as well, especially now that the summer heat is starting to settle in.

Tara had very thick fur and suffered terribly in the summer. I would brush enough fur out of her on a regular basis to make another cat but she would still lie around the house prostrate from the heat.

The following photos are a few of my favorites of Tara. I kept a small desk fan near her at all times, and one day I looked over to see her back legs straddling the fan, her little hips moving as it turned back and forth. How I wish I had recorded it because it was absolutely priceless!!!

My, what a little exhibitionist she was!

Happy 13th Gotcha Day, Angel Tara!

Meows from Mudpie!

I never knew her, but Mommy told me that today would have been Angel Tara's 13th Gotcha Day.

I'm the second kitty in Mommy's life since Tara ran off to the Bridge, and so much has happened in the 7 years since she's been gone that sometimes Mommy feels guilty because she's forgotten some of what made Tara unique. (She was the first tortie that lived in our house so that alone made her super special!) When someone lives in our hearts they're a part of us forever, and Mommy still remembers all of Tara's favorite things, but the little details tend to fall by the wayside.

In honor of Tara's special day, here are some of our favorite photos of her...

May Retro Country Rewind #MewsicMovesMe

One year ago we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. We have so much fun gathering the songs for it month and hope you enjoy our selections. Let's take a look at May for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...

This month instead of choosing one song for each year I had to choose 3 songs from 1985 because I love them all so much and just couldn't choose a favorite. That I said, I couldn't find a song I was crazy about from 1980 or 1975 so we still have 5 songs in our playlist...

35 Years Ago - 1985, There's No Way, Alabama

35 Years Ago - 1985, Radio Heart, Charly McClain

35 Years Ago - 1985, Somebody Should Leave, Reba

50 Years Ago - 1970, My Woman, My Woman, My Wife, Marty Robbins

55 Years Ago - 1965, Girl On the Billboard, Del Reeves

Caturday Art Redux

Meows from Mudpie!

We're still working through our internet woes (the new modem didn't solve our problem) so Mommy hasn't had time to help me create a new work of art this week. We decided to republish a favorite piece of art from the past with hopes we'll be back up and running soon. Every paw is crossed but we're incredibly stumped and frustrated beyond words.

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. One nice thing about staying home is more time spent with Mudpie and the things around my home that bring me enjoyment.

2. When someone disagrees with me, I often get argumentative. It's a personality trait of mine that needs some work.

Mudpie's answers:

3. I love a good tummy rub and a smooch on the forehead. Thankfully Mommy is happy to oblige on both counts anytime I ask...and even when I don't!

4. A squeezie instantly makes my day better.

Where's Tech Support Kitty When You Need Him?

On Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 my Internet died. There was no hint of it's imminent demise, one minute it was working fine, then it was gone.

I waited a couple hours assuming there was an outage of some kind, but after dinner I figured I'd better contact my ISP. There were no outages. Thankfully I had reached a very nice, patient technician who walked me through a number of things to check, none of which worked.

He scheduled a man to come Wednesday morning to check my outside DSL line which was found to be crystal clear. I reset my router and started it up again with no trouble (except for the whole lack of Internet access thing). I replaced the ethernet cable - still nothing. Through process of elimination my ISP is assuming the problem is with their modem, and a new one is being delivered (hopefully) today, Friday.

Could there be a worse possible time to be without the Internet??? I've been beside myself trying to function with just my phone. For someone who barely knows a modem from a router this has been stressful beyond belief, and poor Mudpie has all her paws crossed that the new modem solves our problems!

Note from Mudpie: SEND HELP!!! Mommy has been in complete meltdown mode for nearly 72 hours now! She's impossible to live with when she can't be checking eBay every 2.5 minutes!!!

Mother's Day #MewsicMovesMe

The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is songs about mom or family...

We've got a great collection of sentimental tunes for you today. I knew I had to pick an extra special mom song by Conway because he was so very close to his own mother. He took care of her until the day he died, and she passed a short 16 months later. He often said the thing he was most proud of in his life is that never once raised his voice to his mother. How many of us can say the same thing?

Mother's Day #CaturdayArt #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Since I'd like to have a little extra quality time with Mommy for Mother's Day, I asked her if we could do just one blog post this weekend, combining our Caturday Art project with my Mother's Day message/Sunday Selfie.

Happy Mother's Day to all the pawsome cat moms out there!!!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. I just finished transferring tons of files (photos, videos, music) from my computer to a flash drive. I'm hoping it speeds up my six year old laptop. Of course now if I ever misplace that flash drive there will be no consoling me.

2. I am hoping to start some spring cleaning/purging soon. I wish Goodwill was open! I'm hesitant to gather stuff up to donate because then I'll just have tons of bags hanging around indefinitely.

Mudpie's answers:

3. Making the world a better place for cats is my idea of success.

4. When I can’t sleep, I snuggle closer to Mommy. The only time I have trouble sleeping is when I'm chilly and she's always eager to help warm me up!

Lastly, the answer to Friday's trivia (the source of our blog post title of "what a world, what a world") was the scene in The Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch of the West is melting. Congrats to Lone Star Cats and catladymac for guessing correctly!

Feline Friday: What A World, What A World!

Wake me when things get back to normal.

TRIVIA TIME! What's the source of my "what a world, what a world" blog post title? (Hint: it's not a line from a Conway song! MOL)

In Search of the Purrfect Toy

Meows from Mudpie!

Last fall we moved our mailbox from the front door to the side door, and the front hall became a storage area/play area for me/possible future office for Mommy. One of my scratchers is in there, as well as a Target bag full of cat toys, the overflow of my toy box (what can I say...I'm one spoiled tortie).

Monday night when Mommy said it was time for bed I decided I needed to sort through my toy collection and look for something different to play with first. I tipped the bag over and dove right in. Mommy couldn't grab her camera fast enough as she chronicled my decision-making process. (I ended up choosing a couple toys from last year's Secret Paws package.)

I can't believe I'm letting her post this first picture. (Mancats, be gentlemen and shield your eyes, please...)

Now that I'm thoroughly embarrassed, I'm going to go back to playing with the toys I pulled out. Hope you all enjoyed an up close and personal view of my tushie!

Cinco de Mayo Pawty #MewsicMovesMe

It's a freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop, and since tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo we decided to create a playlist of Mexican-themed country songs.

We're going to start out with a holiday graphic we created back in 2016. It still cracks me up every time I see it, so hopefully it will put a smile on your faces too!

I'm going to shock everyone and announce upfront that I don't have any Conway songs to fit our theme this week. His music was geared more towards parties of two than partying in Mexico and that's perfectly fine with me because the latter isn't my thing either. We still found some great tunes to help you get in the spirit...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week...any special Cinco de Mayo plans at your house?
