And now our answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mudpie's answers:

1. I keep trying to tone down the cuteness, but it isn't working. I sure hope everyone can handle it.

2. I don’t need Mommy to buy more squeezies for awhile, but I want her to pick up a couple extra packages every time she goes to the grocery store, just in case. For awhile this summer they became very hard to find and we started to panic. I need my squeezies more than oxygen! Thankfully they seem to be reappearing so hopefully it was just a temporary production issue.

Mommy's answers:

3. I would want a cat to be etched onto my tombstone. There's a stone in the cemetery where my maternal grandparents are buried that has a cat on it and it's so sweet.

4. If I heard something go bump in the night, I would check to see if Mudpie was in bed with me. If she was, I would start to worry.

Freaky Flashback #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

How can it possibly already be the last Friday of October??? If only the summer hots could fly by this fast. Anyways, thank you for joining us once again for the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop!

Our fail this month doubles as a flashback from my first Halloween here in my forever home. We've posted it before because Mommy loves it so much, even though the video quality is pawsitively horrid (hence, making it a fail.) On second thought, it is a Halloween video, so let's just say it's atmospheric!

I don't know where Mommy picked up this little freak but he drove me batty every single time she turned him on. Nevermind the dogs...I left him wondering "who let Mudpie out???" Did you ever think I could be so vicious?

In this shorter second video, turn the sound way up so you don't miss my sputtering at the end. No matter what I did, I just couldn't kill him!

Thankfully after a couple years of him torturing me, his batteries died, and when Mommy went to replace them she found the battery compartment all corroded. He doesn't work even with new batteries inserted. He's finally DEAD!!!

Note from Mommy: Does anyone know what I can use to clean the battery compartment in hopes of getting him to work again?

Note from Mudpie: SHUT UP, MOMMY!!!

Those are my bloopers...let's see yours!

Halloween Decorating 2020

Meows from Mudpie!

We thought you might like to take a look at our Halloween decor for this year, starting with the Day of the Dead display. Yes, Mommy's collection of statues has grown. (Have you ever seen an x-ray of a momma cat expecting kittens? All you can see is little skeletons, just like this table!)

Our Halloween "cat village" consisting mainly of Lemax Spooky Town pieces...

A few Day of the Dead stuffies. It's hard to see but they're sitting in a cat-shaped wire basket which was supposed to hold a pumpkin.

And a black cat candy bowl holding another Dead of the Dead stuffie, witchy Pusheen, and a vintage cat Mommy picked up at AC Moore before they closed last year.

We have SO many Halloween decorations it would be impossible to use everything, so we stick to various cat-themed vignettes. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

And now our answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mudpie's answers:

1. I might be a braver kitty than most on Halloween night. Trick or treaters have never scared me, although they're quite bothersome if I'm trying to take a nap. Mommy just worries about the door opening and closing so frequently and keeps a close eye on where I am.

2. If my house were haunted, Mommy would protect me.

Mommy's answers:

3. I want to clean up the leaves on my lawn before fall is over. I always mow over them instead of raking and bagging them, but the lawnmower is on the fritz. My lawn is a sea of yellow and orange!

4. The night I lost Truffles is the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me.

Fun Feline Finds: Ziploc Christmas Cats Storage Containers

Meows from Mudpie!

We have a quick fun feline find for you today. A couple weeks ago Mommy was doing her weekly grocery shopping (hopefully she was on her way to the squeezie aisle) when she spotted these adorable holiday Ziploc containers with Christmas cats all over them. They were only $2.99, a buck a piece, so she picked up two packages.

Aren't they the cutest? Chances are slim that Mommy will be giving any away, but in addition to being used for food storage, we think they would be just adorable with little Christmas gifts or baked goods tucked inside. Mommy plans to put one out as a candy dish, and I just might ask to use a couple as kibble and water bowls for a little holiday flair when I'm dining. Hmmm...I could even stash a bunch of squeezies inside!

We found them at Hannaford Supermarket, but I'm sure all grocery and big box stores will have them as the Christmas season draws closer.

Can you think of any other uses for them?

Tortie Tocks & Target Totes

Meows from Mudpie!

Today we're celebrating Tocktober, a day to admire adorable little kitty tushies in honor of our dear friend Derby.

This picture was taken late one night after Mommy said it was time for bed. I decided I would rather sort through my toy collection (the overflow of my toy box resides in a Target bag) and look for something different to play with first.

Thankfully my tushie is pretty adorbs...but I can't believe Mommy didn't even cover up the naughty bits!!!

October Retro Country Rewind #MewsicMovesMe

Last year we premiered our mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. We have so much fun gathering the songs for it and hope you enjoy our selections.

Let's take a look at October for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop, starting with one of my all-time favorite songs and ending with a pair of country classics...

35 Years Ago - 1985, Lost in the Fifties Tonight, Ronnie Milsap

40 Years Ago - 1980, Do You Wanna Go To Heaven, T.G. Sheppard

#SundaySelfie All By Myselfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Yesterday morning I was lounging on Mommy's bed and decided to try using the front-facing camera on her phone to take a selfie...all by myselfie! It's all kinds of crooked but I look purrfect and that's all that really matters!

(Please excuse you-know-who over my shoulder. There's no getting away from him in this room.)

And now our answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. I have zero interest in today's pop culture. I'm an old soul and proud of it.

2. Note to self: contact Sirius XM next week to negotiate a new subscription. Anyone else hate these services that require you to threaten to cancel in order to get a good deal? It's worth the effort in the long run, I just dread making that call.

Mudpie's answers:

3. Squeezies (aka Delectables Squeeze Ups) are my favorite treat. I'm sure you're all shocked by that answer. If I was an adventure cat I'd ask Mommy to take me on a road trip to the Hartz plant to see how they're packaged. I wonder if there's open vats of it there? I bet I would jump in!

4. If I were living in a horror film, I would never leave Mommy's side. She would always make sure I was safe.

Unboxing October's CatLadyBox

The theme of October's CatLadyBox was the annual Black Cats Box...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist: Caley Hicks

Squishy Black Cat Pillow: This was immediately added to my Halloween decor as soon as I removed it from the box, and will have a permanent place on the couch for the rest of the year!

"Peeping Cats" Shirt: There were four different design options for this shirt that takes a peek through the window into our cats' lives. I chose the pink, of course!

Black Cat Cuff Bracelet: I'm absolutely crazy about this bracelet. My wrist is so small that even most adjustable bracelets are too big for me, but this one fits just purrfectly. The design is so sweet and dainty.

Deco Cat Ears: Can a cat lady ever have too many cat ears? I'm thinking a collection of them would look beautiful hanging on the wall.

Cat-O-Lantern & Mewnicorn Catnip Cat Toys: I'm the worst cat mom in the world. I've added both of these adorable toys to my Halloween cat stuffie display. In all fairness, Mudpie already has more toys than she knows what to do with! She won't miss a couple. MOL

Jiving Around the Jukebox in Rocktober #MewsicMovesMe

In addition to being a country girl I've always enjoyed the early rock & roll music of the late '50s and early '60s. This is one of the many reasons why I love Conway so much...he's the best of both worlds! I'm just crazy about that whole era and have often felt that I was "born too late." (Strangely enough, my mom was a teenager in the '50s and wasn't crazy about it. She's more of a roaring '20s kinda gal!)

It's Rocktober in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop, and the challenge is to choose a decade and build a playlist of rock songs from that period. So let's take a trip back to the '50s and jive around the jukebox, beginning of course with my one and only...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!
Let us know if you have a favorite, and what your preferred era of rock music is!

And now our answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mudpie's answers:

1. 2015 was a very good year. It's the year I found my forever home!

2. Whenever I hear Mommy come home from work or shopping, I hop up on the coffee table to wait for my squeezie treat. She always asks if it's her or the squeezie I'm more excited about, and I'm not telling! MOL

Mommy's answers:

3. I look forward to holiday decorating this time of year. Halloween went out this week, and by Veterans Day the Christmas tree will be up!

4. Centipedes creep me out. Thankfully I only saw one this summer!

Feline Friday Halloween Flashback

Meows from Mudpie!

This week as Mommy and I did our Halloween decorating, we thought it might be fun to take a look back at our first Halloween together 5 years ago!

Mommy put a race car driver costume on me, which is very appropriate again this year because if you follow NASCAR at all you know that our favorite driver Kevin Harvick is having a pawsome season with NINE wins so far!

See the scratcher I'm sitting on? It's still in our bedroom, I still use it every single day, and it pretty much looks like it's been involved in one pileup too many.

We hear this guy crashed many years ago and now haunts the racetrack.

Following my victory lane celebration I needed a nap. It was a fun first Halloween in my forever home!

Feline Friday is simple to join. All you have to do is:

Post a picture, drawing, cartoon or video of a cat (They may be silly or cute).

Getting Cozy on National LED Light Day

Today is National LED Light Day, and I'll state right up front that I'm not a fan. I find them to be way too bright and they give me a headache. I still use incandescent bulbs, and when word came a few years back they were gradually being phased out I started hoarding them and still have plenty.

Hmmm...what's this?

That being said, I love the design trend of LED fairy lights in glass bowls and jars. I think it's so warm and cozy looking.

Earlier this year I added a pretty frosted drinking glass to my Conway collection. Then at the dollar store last week I picked up a couple small strands of LEDs and was excited to see how one would look in the glass since the frost would cut the brightness.

Him again. Shoulda known.

It was the perfect fit, and with winter right around the corner it will add just the right amount of extra lighting to my bedroom. I plan to pick up a few more strands to put in some frosted cat glasses I have and scatter them around the house as well.

What else is she gonna think of...

As you can see, Mudpie was eager to snoopervise my "craft project" and provided her opinion on it as well.

Fun Feline Finds for Halloween from Etsy

Meows from Mudpie!

I'm excited because Mommy is planning to start pulling out our Halloween decorations this week. Even though she already has more than she could ever use she's always looking for more, and one of her favorite places to shop for Halloween goodies is Etsy. There are so many creative people out there creating pawsome kitty items, and we thought we'd share some of our favorite finds (for both humans and cats) with you today!

We hope you enjoy our Halloween picks, and don't forget, if you find something here you like and make a purchase using our affiliate links, I get a little money for my piggy bank!

Spooky Mudpie #CaturdayArt

Visit more artsy kitties at Athena's Caturday Art blog hop!

And now our answers (all answered by Mommy this week) for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

1. You will never find cigarette smoke in my home. Just a whiff gives me a headache.

2. Once a year, I have a taste of eggnog. That's more than enough!

3. Politics has gotten me in trouble. I try not to engage on social media but sometimes I just can't help myself.

4. The last time I attended a concert was when Toby Keith came to our fair in 2013. It was just a week after I had adopted Truffles and I didn't want to leave her alone so my mom stayed with her. She said my poor baby was a basket case the whole time I was gone, searching the house for me and crying. That shows how quickly she had become attached!
