The Prettiest Ornament #CaturdayArt

Meows from Mudpie!

So Mommy didn't go Black Friday shopping yesterday, but you'll never guess what she stayed home to do. She finally finished decorating the Christmas tree!!! That's right - the tree went up exactly 2 weeks ago and the last ornament just got hung. She's been busy trying to get her shopping done before the mad crowds start and decorating the rest of the house, so the poor tree sat there half naked for 2 solid weeks. I was starting to feel sorry for it.

For my Caturday Art project this week I created a digital ornament of me using Photo Lab. You probably remember that our entire tree each year is decorated in cat ornaments, and many of them are dedicated to me and the cats that came before me. I'll try to get Mommy to post pictures of some of our favorites before the season is over.

Having Fun #PetPhotoFails

Meows from Mudpie!

Another month has flown by, making it time once again for the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop!

Happy Black Friday morning!!!

You're not going shopping today, are you? We're sure not! As a matter of fact as you're reading this Mommy and I are most likely still lounging in our bed nursing a turkey hangover!

Our bloopers/fails this month come from Halloween night when we opened our pawsome prize package from the Four-Legged Furballs. While I was playing with my new toys Mommy was busy snapping pics, and needless to say only a couple of them turned out good enough to use in our original post.

Mommy says there's nothing she loves more than to watch a kitty having fun so we thought you might feel that way too and would like to see the rest of them anyways.

Those are our bloopers...let's see yours!

Mudpie & Mommy: And we're BOTH thankful for all of YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours...

Torties in Toyland #MewsicMovesMe

Meows from Mudpie!

My good friend CK at Stunning Keisha has selected the prompt for the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop once again this week, and she chose a topic near and dear to my heart...in honor of Black Friday and the holiday shopping season, songs about toys (people or animal toys).

I'm a tortie who loves to have fun, and given the choice between playing and eating, give me a good toy any day!

I have the honors of selecting our first toy-themed tune, the classic Chipmunks Christmas Song. Mommy asked me to relay a fun bit of trivia she found...in November 1958 Conway's It's Only Make Believe was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, followed by To Know Him Is To Love Him by The Teddy Bears, and The Chipmunk Song was #1 for the last 2 weeks of the year. Leave it to Mommy to find a connection between Conway and the Chipmunks!

Better grab a cat to cuddle because this one's gonna make you cry your eyes out!

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!

November Sunshine #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Yesterday morning I snapped my selfie basking in the glorious November sunshine - a real rarity here in Vermont!

As for who's lurking behind me, I've come to the conclusion that anytime my selfie is taken in the bedroom, he's going to be in the background. There's no escape.

Mommy's answers:

1. I can't wait to sink my teeth into cranberry stuffing and pecan pie on Thanksgiving.

2. I will pass on sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving.

Mudpie's answers:

3. I wish Delectables Squeeze ups were served at holiday gatherings. I'm the rare kitty who doesn't like Thanksgiving turkey so I'll be asking for my favorite treat. Mommy says I need to join "squeezies anonymous."

Following Up...

Meows from Mudpie!

Thought you might like an update on a couple things we've posted about lately...

Remember how on Friday I said we were putting up our Christmas tree and I was looking forward to spending time in the cabinet Mommy was going to have to move across the room all by herself? It went pretty much as we expected. She grunted and groaned while creeping it across the floor a couple feet at a time, and then suddenly wondered why it seemed to have gotten heavier.

She didn't realize that I had already hopped in while she was carrying it! Mommy got a little perturbed with me and said she didn't need my extra 12 pounds to carry. That was just rude. She did let me hang out in there for awhile while she took a breather.

Then on Sunday there was much excitement over the last NASCAR race of the season and crowning of a champion. Sadly, Mommy's favorite Kevin didn't win. He finished 4th in the race and 3rd in points for the season. She did a bit of crying in her Harvick mug and then started counting down the days until Daytona...

Oh, and Monday after work Mommy went out to the garage to get more Christmas stuff only to discover that a little birdie had gotten trapped in the there overnight! The poor guy was flapping his wings and pecking at the window, desperate to get out. Thankfully once the overhead door was open and he saw daylight he flew right out. Hope he was able to reunite with his family!

Never a dull moment at our house. What's been going on at yours?

Indian Mudpie #MewsicMovesMe

Meows from Mudpie!

Last week Mommy embarrassed me terribly and posted her own topic in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop instead of our friend Cathy Keisha's prompt of Native American themed songs. By the time we realized our mistake at midnight it was too late to do anything about it, so we decided to just wait and do it this week instead.

You might be surprised to learn that this prompt is relevant to little ol' me. You see, when Mommy first adopted me I was what you might call a wild child. I tore around the house all crazy pants (and still do at times), leading Mommy to nickname me "Indian Mudpie." I'm not sure that she meant it as a compliment to me or Native Americans, I'll let you decide.

Anyways, onto our Native American-inspired playlist. Shockingly, Mommy doesn't have a Conway song to start out with, but she still found a way to sneak him into our post. (Sort of like the way he's always photo bombing me.)

Guitarist Jesse Edwin Davis was posthumously inducted into the Native American Music Hall of Fame just last year after a successful career as a solo performer and session artist, playing with a variety of musicians such as Eric Clapton, John Lennon and George Harrison. His first gig in the mid 1960s was playing guitar in Conway's band!

A few country songs with a Native American twist...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!

Nail Biting Championship #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

We're recycling a preciously seen selfie this week, but it's in honor of a very special day at our house!

It's NASCAR's Championship Sunday and once again our guy Kevin Harvick is one of only 4 drivers eligible to win the big trophy. He's made it to the title race 5 times in the last 6 years: in 2014 he won the championship (before I moved in), in 2015 he finished 2nd, in 2017 and 2018 he ended up 3rd.

Mommy is super excited but so nervous she can hardly stand it. Me, I'll be hiding out until the race is over. Whichever way it goes I have a feeling things will get very, very loud. Send help. And cross all your fingers and paws that the 4 car wins the Cup!

Caturday Art

Visit more artsy kitties at Athena's Caturday Art blog hop!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. I have been looking forward to peppermint mocha season for quite awhile.

2. Have you started any holiday shopping or decorating yet?

Mudpie's answers:

3. I always get extra clingy this time of year. I love to cuddle when it gets cold so the moment a member of my family sits down I'm on their lap. Mommy jokes that if a burglar came in and sat down I'd probably cuddle with him.

4. The world could use more cat cuddles. To continue with my #3, I've never had a single complaint when I hold a lap hostage! People usually take a nap with me and say I'm the best sedative they've ever had. Cat snuggling makes the world a better place, one person at a time.

Moving Furniture Flashback on Feline Friday

Meows from Mudpie!

Anyone who has followed us through the years knows that we decorate early for Christmas, like around Veterans Day. One of Mommy's favorite decorating memories happened 2 years ago this week...

The tree going up requires moving some furniture. This cabinet is filled with mostly old records that her parents gave her (non-Conway records - his have their own place of honor), and there's nothing much heavier than vinyl! Since Mommy has to do it herself she obviously has to move everything out in order to lift it.

When she finished the heavy lifting and left the door open I couldn't resist and had to hop in! Mommy didn't have the heart to make me move so she used it as a good excuse to take a break :)

I think she should leave it empty for me, don't you? Anyways, guess what we're doing this afternoon? Putting up the Christmas tree! Paws crossed I get to spend some time in the cabinet again this year!

Unboxing November's CatLadyBox

The theme of November's CatLadyBox was Baked to Purrfection...here's what was inside!

Featured Cat Lady Artist: "Morning Loaf" by Jamie Shelman, owner of The Dancing Cat and author of How to Land on Your Feet: Life Lessons from My Cat.

Mod Cats Melamine Bowl Set: I plan to stack these in a corner of my kitchen shelf for decoration. I can't imagine dirtying them up with food!

Cat Potholders Set: I've been known to hang decorative potholders. They're just too cute to risk singeing and staining!

Cat Head Jar Gripper: Not only practical but I adore the plum color.

Catnip Pie Cat Toy: It's about time a kitty with a "pie" name got a pie toy!

Furrrench Bread Catnip Kicker Toy: The hang tag on this toy just killed me, featuring a black cat wearing a French beret. It shows the attention to detail on all CatLadyBox products.

November Retro Country Rewind #MewsicMovesMe

Earlier this year we premiered our new mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. We were so happy that you guys seemed to enjoy it! Now let's take a look at November for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...

50 Years Ago - 1969, To See An Angel Cry, Conway Twitty

This song was Conway's 3rd (of 55) #1 record on the country charts. His next #1 would be Hello Darlin' in June 1970...the song that catapulted him to superstardom.

45 Years Ago - 1974, Back Home Again, John Denver

40 Years Ago - 1979, You Decorated My Life, Kenny Rogers

35 Years Ago - 1984, I've Been Around Enough to Know, John Schneider

And lastly, in honor of Veterans Day...

We hope you enjoy our choices this week!

Game Time #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Mommy helped me snap my selfie right after we woke up yesterday morning. Bet everyone wishes they looked this good first thing in the morning!

Now let's play a little game...who can spot the photo bomb by you-know-who (aka Conway) in this week's selfie? Boy he's sneaky!!!

Snow Globe #CaturdayArt

Visit more artsy kitties at Athena's Caturday Art blog hop!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. Whenever I shop in crowded stores, I get extremely anxious. I start to feel like everyone is closing in on me. It's almost like the people make me feel claustrophobic, not the space.

2. Therefore, the upcoming Christmas shopping season is not going to be fun.

Mudpie's answers:

3. Good things come to those who are ridiculously adorable. Which pretty much guarantees that I get anything I ask for.

4. Closed doors and windows make me grumpy. The season of lounging in open, sunny doors and windows is officially over and I'm not happy about it. Although cuddle season is here, so there's that...

The Highlight of Our Halloween

Meows from Mudpie!

If you read our blog over the weekend you know we didn't have the greatest Halloween at our house. There was a huge bright spot though when we learned earlier in the week that we had won a pawsome giveaway from our dear friends at the Four-Legged Furballs.

The package arrived right on Halloween and was the highlight of our day. We received a darling cat o'lantern pillow handmade by the Furballs' incredibly talented grandma, a bookmark drawn by their equally talented mom, and Mommy nearly had a fit over a notebook featuring a tortie in a scene straight out of an Edgar Allen Poe story. (Did you remember that Poe had a tortie named Cattarina?) For a mystery lover like Mommy this was just the icing on the cake.

She also received some candy, and I got a catnip candy corn and Yeowww! pumpkin, which may have left me in such a state that I missed most of the flooded basement drama that was to come as the evening wore on.

We can't thank the Four-Legged Furballs and their wonderful humans enough for the extra special giveaway. They knew exactly what would make Mommy and I purrfectly happy!

Candy, Cats, Christmas & Conway #MewsicMovesMe

It's a freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blop hop and we decided to build a playlist around songs with the word "candy" in the title in honor of National Candy Day, which is today. Hope your sweet tooth is ready!

You probably think I choose topics with a Conway song already in mind.
You wouldn't be wrong.

As soon as the calendar turns to November it's officially the Christmas season at our house.
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack.

Do you have a favorite candy song? Or a favorite candy?

Let us know!
