Thankful Thursday: Windblown Mudpie

Meows from Mudpie!

A blurry photo of me is nothing new. Usually it's because I'm a tortie on the move, but this time around it's for a whole other reason!

I'm blowing awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning we got our share of the huge winter storm that crossed the nation. It started as snow in the afternoon, then turned to sleet, then plain rain, and finally the wind kicked in. Meteorologists had warned the wind would be very, very bad overnight, but more so for towns close to the mountains, which we're not.

Mommy and I dozed off on the couch and didn't wake up until around 1:45am. Before going to bed Mommy went to the back door to see what was going on outside, and just as she did a gust blew up the driveway that made her think the door would come off its hinges. She was petrified but I was intrigued by the freight train sounds and wanted her to open the door so I could see! MOL she told me even at nearly 20 pounds I would probably blow away out there.

She checked Facebook and sure enough, a local meteorologist posted that the local airport had just measured a 69 MPH wind gust at 1:53am (our 4th highest wind gust on record).

I went to sleep on the couch and Mommy went to bed, but she stayed awake until nearly 4am once the worst seemed to be over. Thousands lost power, there was a lot of property damage, but thankfully we survived unscathed.

PS: Thank you for the purrs and prayers for my grandpa. He's still in the hospital but might be discharged soon. He has an infection just like last year, but hopefully we caught it faster this time around.

Mudpie, Precious one of the bathroom window open yesterday morning. As per usual all year round. But as soon as we opened it we had 50 mph wind and at about knocked her ears off her head. She immediately left her position and I slammed the window shut. I am so glad that your power stayed on because that's a terrible loss when it is so cold. Still have plenty of prayers and prayers for your grandpa

Good to hear your Grandpa is doing better! That was a scary wind! A relief to know you had no impact from it. We're getting severe thunderstorms and wind in the morning, with a small chance of tornados.
