Peach Pies and Alibis by Ellery Adams

Currently Reading
Blurb: Ella Mae LeFaye’s Charmed Pie Shoppe is wildly popular in Havenwood, Georgia—which is not surprising since Ella Mae can lace her baked goods with enchantments. The shop’s extraordinary success seems destined to continue when Ella Mae meets an engaged couple who hire her to handle the dessert buffet at their wedding.

But Ella Mae has a lot on her plate. She is also searching for the origin of her magical powers—and hoping to determine if the spark of attraction she feels for the handsome Hugh Dylan is authentic or just her new abilities gone awry.

Then Ella Mae discovers a high-standing member of the community dead, and a wedding guest becomes seriously ill at the event she’s catering. Now she’ll have to use all her sleuthing skills and culinary talents to prove her pies don’t contain a killer ingredient . . .

My Review: It never ceases to amaze me the quality of the cozy mysteries being churned out today, and in my opinion the leader of the pack is Ellery Adams. Her multifaceted stories led by a group of close-knit Southern ladies are on par with the best fiction.

This second Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery is an absolute must read for cozy lovers everywhere, so I don't want to rehash the plot and risk giving away any spoilers, but suffice it to say Ella Mae faces life-changing events, both good and bad, as she comes to grip with learning more and more about her powers and experiences an unthinkable loss. Her life is forever altered in the course of this book.

Now that she's found her place (and purpose) in Havenwood, I'm looking forward to seeing her relationship with Hugh flourish, and I'm crazy about bookshop owner Suzy and her poodle Jasmine introduced in this book. I'd love to be a part of their upcoming pizza and wine research parties! And in my mind's eye I can already picture the cover of the next book - is just has to have Ella Mae's new pink Jeep on it!

So if you're looking for a lemon icebox pie laced with December snowfall, wedding tarts that taste of love, and lamb pies that force confessions from people, enter Ella Mae LeFaye's Charmed Pie Shoppe. You may never want to leave.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher with the request for a review.

I read this one and used an entire box of tissues crying. Ellery's books draw you in and you feel like you are part of the plot. I love both of her series and can't wait for the next one in each to come out.
