Confessions of a Pet Blogging Shopaholic

My favorite place to shop has always been a bookstore (obviously), but lately I'm finding that browsing a pet shop makes me just as happy. Don't you find it fun to browse the aisles of pet stores and think about how happy your pet would be if you brought home that new toy or treat?

Right at this moment the Global Pet Expo, the pet industry’s largest annual trade show, is taking place in Orlando. Hundreds of new pet products are making their debut including a line of products for cats by Petmate and My Cat From Hell host Jackson Galaxy! I can hardly wait to start shopping!

Even more exciting is that now I have a voice in the ever-growing pet industry. In January I became a BlogPaws Pet Blogger Influencer. Each week I receive a survey in my inbox where I get to answer questions about my habits and opinions which is gathered together with the other members of the group in order to inform pet brands what professional pet bloggers are looking for.

The first survey's results focused on what we spend our money on and was just compiled into an infographic. My answers pretty much followed the majority...I would be willing to borrow money or go without something for pet, I monetize my blog, I did plenty of Christmas shopping for Truffles and my fellow bloggers do influence my purchases. As a matter of fact, my most recent purchase for Truffles just this week was an Imperial Cat scratcher because I have admired them on various blogs over the past several months.

I think everybody's biggest pet-related expense is vet bills, but I'm curious as to what your latest splurge for your pet has been?

The mom is always splurging on something for us. She says she spends more on us than her. But isn't that the way it's supposed to be?

Melissa, I LOVE bookstores. Honestly, I could spend all day in one and not get bored.

Anyway....my latest spending has all been on vet bills for Carmine. We have been at the vet every week for three weeks now, and the visits won't be stopping for a while while we try to figure out what's going on with him medically.

As far as fun pet stuff....most of my spending has been on cat treats and toys. Carmine's birthday was in February, so he got lots of nice presents. :)

I used to spend all of my time at the bookstore browsing & drinking coffee! A perfect way to spend an afternoon (entire day). Now that I have my Kindle, I frequent the book stores less, but I could actually spend all day hanging out in my pet store. Plus, I can bring Bentley with me!! Bark More, Growl Less Barking from the Bayou!

I think I follow the majority on that infographic as well. I would definitely go without for my cats - and I often do. Having 5 of them causes for some hefty food and litter bills. Thankfully we haven't had many vet bills recently, so I would say that my biggest splurge is definitely food. My husband jokes that the cats eat better than we do! Haha. But he's right… they do! I put so much effort and money into making sure they have the healthiest possible diet. And then we have frozen pizza or Taco Bell for dinner… hahaha. We can definitely laugh about it, that's for sure!

Who has money? And where would I keep it? As someone once said "I have no pockets!"

It was fun to see everyone's answers illustrated like this! The only thing different for us is that we spend a greater percentage of our kitty green papers online.

Think they’re gonna do an infographic on how spoiled cats of bloggers are.
