Celebrating #NationalColoringBookDay With Two New Books!

Today is National Coloring Book Day, providing us the purr-fect opportunity to tell you about two new coloring books in our collection that we're just crazy about!

I loved the first Color Cats book so I jumped at the chance when asked to review the second because it's practically tailor made for me...cats and books! Each drawing alludes to a fable, rhyme, fairy tale, folktale, poem or book inspired by cats. Some are easy to figure out, others are quite a puzzle. At the back of the book there's a Reference Key with the answers, and each of those drawings is a smaller size also suitable for coloring. In many cases I had to sneak a peek and then was completely blown away by the creative interpretation. These drawings would look amazing hanging in a library!

To view thumbnails of all 25 drawings or download sample pages, please visit colorcats.org.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I pre-ordered this months in advance because if it's Grumpy Cat-related, I need it! I already had her children's coloring book in my collection, but this one has all the intricacies of an adult coloring book. Whether she's surrounded by mice and cheese, ice cream and cake, or cloudy skies and umbrellas, Grumpy Cat is the star of every drawing in all her grumpy glory.

This book is as must-have for every Tardar Sauce aficionado. Grumpy Cat must not hate coloring too much because her second book, Grumpy Cat Vs. The World, is scheduled to be released on September 21st and I've already pre-ordered my copy!

Have you added any new cat coloring books to your collection lately?

Although my human doesn't do adult coloring books (she's just too busy - and yes, she does not spend enough time relaxing), the fact that there are so many CAT coloring books out there makes it really, really tempting.

We are worried TBT would color them all PURPLE and GREEN or something. And then we would worry what THAT meant.

I somehow don't have any adult coloring books yet (what is wrong with me?!?). After seeing these, though, I'm pretty sure that's going to change. I just love Grumpy Cat, and I love how the other coloring book features cats and books - nothing beats that combo! Thank you for sharing these with us, Mudpie and Melissa!

If I had any coloring books, they would be cats. Maybe one day, if I ever catch up on all the books I want to read. :)

I didn't even know these existed! Maybe it's time to brush off my colored pencils and crayons and have some fun :)

What cute books! I have a collection of coloring books going. I don't use them, but I love collecting cat things. I have not reached hoarder status yet, though.

Very cool! We need to get a cat colouring book or two. We wonder if anyone has made a Sphynx colouring book?

I recently started coloring and love it! I just have a couple of regular coloring books, I plan to add cat books later. I was going to major in Art in college so it is a wonderful release for me. Would have loved to have seen some of your completed pages and Mudpie in the photo with the books :) catchatwithcarenandcody

Those look like fun. The mom hasn't gotten into the coloring craze...yet...but her MIL (our grandma!) gave her some coloring pencils and books. It's only a matter of time....

When we had our Major Kitchen Disaster Mom stopped coloring but she can't wait to get into it again.

TW wishes she had time to color. Alas, maybe someday when she’s two hunnert. Of course, she’s not very creative even now. When she sees all the designs, her head spins.

I don't have a cat one yet. I have one that is all birds, a witch one, and one with different animals.
