I don't read a ton of dog books but after reading the author's book about her cat Tammy I was eager to dig into this one as well. For anyone who has loved a pet so deeply that life without them seems unimaginable, this is the book for you. The bond between Darcy and Liane is beautiful beyond words, and the final chapter ripped my heart into shreds. Just like with Tammy, Darcy is written alternately between human and dog, and Darcy is a dog of many words!

Stories like this make me tempted to take my blog posts and expand them into a book about my own pets. It's such a beautiful way to memorialize these precious beings that share our lives and take a part of us with them when they leave. What better way to keep their memory alive than to share them with the rest of the world in written form? If it inspires just one person to adopt a pet to experience that one of a kind love for themselves, it would be worth the emotional roller-coaster that must come from reliving all those special moments. Thank you, Liane, for sharing the divine Darcy with us.

Darcy lived with us from March 2004 to February 2014.
Ten minutes with her would have been a present. Ten years was a gift from heaven.

I think you should write books about your kitties.

Another book for Mom and me to read. We are not familiar with the author, but it sounds like she is very compassionate about anipals like you and Mom are, and can't imagine her life without pets, also like you and Mom. Purr purr purr. -Valentine (& Mom Kerry) of Noir Kitty Mews
