June Retro Country Rewind #MewsicMovesMe

This spring we premiered our new mewsic feature "Retro Country Rewind," a look back at favorite songs that hit #1 during that month from 30, 35, 40 plus years ago. We were so happy that you guys seemed to enjoy it! Now let's take a look at June for this freebie week in the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop...

30 Years Ago - 1989, A Better Man, Clint Black

1989 was a banner year for newcomers in country music, producing the likes of Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. Clint Black was my favorite of the group, and the first country artist to see his debut single hit #1 on the charts since 1975.

35 Years Ago - 1984, I Can Tell By the Way You Dance, Vern Gosdin

I've always been nuts about this song, and wish Conway had been the one to record it.
It is, as he always said, the perfect "Conway Twitty song."

40 Years Ago - 1979, She Believes In Me, Kenny Rogers

45 Years Ago - 1974, I Don't See Me In Your Eyes Anymore, Charlie Rich

Miss Conway? Me too. But he'll be back next month with a pair of #1 records for the month of July!

Let us know if you have a favorite this month!

Mudpie,

Your mama added some great oldie country hits to the 4M turntable. My purrsonal favorite has to be Kenny Rogers' 'She Believes In Me' which released the year DH and I got married. If you put a pair of black plastic rim glasses on Kenny and he'd pass for my high school English teachers' husband who incidentally she had a huge crush on Kenny. :) I wonder if that's why her hubby wore a beard or is that why she was attracted to him? I guess I'll never know that answer. lol Thanks for sharing with the 4M crew and for hitting the dance floor with us today, my dear. Have a boogietastic week!

Country music produced a lot of greats in the 80s and early 90s. Thanks Melissa and Mudpie.

Thank you for the trip down the old back country roads. Every decade has had some great country tunes and you have found some of the best for sure. Wow, the Charlie Rich song is a true "way-back machine" time capsule. Have a blessed week.

Clint Black reminds me a lot of Roy Rogers. Good picks today!

Wow. I would've guessed those acts were around for much longer. Then again, 1989 doesn't feel like 30 years ago either!

I'm so glad you shared one of Kenny Rogers's songs here, because I haven't heard any of his stuff in forever!
