The Songs of Summer #MewsicMovesMe

The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is summer songs. Seeing as how summer is my least favorite season I had planned to sit this one out, but I ended up thinking of so many great songs that I couldn't resist joining in.

Pickin' Wild Mountain Berries is one of my favorite Conway & Loretta songs, perfectly showing the fun & flirty relationship they shared. This footage was taken from a huge Country Spectacular at Madison Square Garden in 1971. It became a 3 hour TV special called Nashville at the Garden. I've seen several of Conway's performances from the show but sure would love to see the whole thing.

And for the record, I would've gone pickin' wild mountain berries with him anytime he wanted...no guarantees we'd come back either!

My favorite lyric in this Luke Bryan song?

Might sit down on my diamond plate tailgate
Put in my country rock hip-hop mixtape
Little Conway, a little T-Pain, might just make it rain

Love that today's superstars still pay tribute to him in their music.

A few other summertime favorites...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!

Let us know if you have a favorite :)

Momma always liked Deana Carter's song.

Have ya heard Maddie and Tae's Girl In a Country Song? They mention Conway and momma thought of you!

Mudpie,

I remember fondly of pickin' raspberries and blackberries beside the roadside as a kid. We never gave a second thought about snakes that are often drawn to berry patches, either. Rattlesnakes and copperheads were both frequent reptiles spotted in my WV mountains home. All of your mewsic selections are new2me, except for 'Strawberry Wine'. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

Glad you were able to come up with some songs despite not liking summer ( like me :) ).

Our mom hates summer! She says it makes her hair frizzy.

I am so with you on summer not being a favorite season. Is it autumn yet? Halloween time? That being said, I think Pickin' Wild Mountain Berries is one of my favorite song titles of all time. It has a such a sweet and fresh ring to it.

Great picks, Mudpie! I like summer...when it's not too hot, of course. But I love the California sun!

Two songs here got me very excited. One is "The Thunder Rolls" a song I know as one done by a heavy metal group called All That Remains. I did not know it was originally a country song done by Garth Brooks, and not only did I enjoy his performance of the song he cowrote (I read that, although he co-wrote it, Tanya Tucker originally did the song)I found out there was a third verse where the wronged woman gets her gun. And, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which had at least one crossover hit on the rock charts(Mr. Bogangles)- I knew they were a country band, and it was nice hearing them in their native genre.
