Hissing at USPS

Meows from Mudpie!

Today Mommy and I are giving the US Postal Service a great big HISS.

To begin with, we haven't had a regular mail carrier in our neighborhood for a couple years. Since the last one was transferred it's just been substitute after substitute. Most days we get our mail around dinner time, but many times also we just get skipped. For a period of 10 days around Thanksgiving we received mail exactly TWO days. Mommy was ready to tear her hair out. Even now that the holidays are over, today is Wednesday and we haven't gotten mail since last Thursday. Calls and complaints fall on deaf ears.

Worse still, now it's affecting me. Mommy ordered 2 boxes of squeezies for me from Amazon on January 8th. We're not Prime members so our delivery date was scheduled for the 15th. Sure enough, the box arrived at our local post office at 10AM on the 15th, where it sat ALL weekend until it was finally listed as out for delivery yesterday, but still never came because once again we had no mail delivery. Temps have been frigidly cold for days, often well below zero, and I'm worried about receiving a box of squeezie popsicles.

Meanwhile, Mommy also ordered a box of canned food from Walmart for our neighbor kitty friend who visits, and it arrived 2 days later via FedEx! When we opened the box I immediately curled up on this pile of packing paper which was pawsome, but I'm still hissing at the USPS for holding my squeezies hostage!!!

How's the mail service in your area? Are you experiencing similar difficulties?

Update! Mommy got a message in her Amazon account that even though the package may still arrive, it's so late she could request a refund, which she immediately did. Now if they arrive frozen/ruined, we've already got our money back. And if by some miracle they arrive unscathed...I scored a couple free boxes of squeezies!

Thankfully UK postal services are pretty good. Multiple carriers also. Sorry that you are struggling, not getting ones squeezies when you know they are nearby must be so annoying!
At least you got that nice scrunchy paper to play in!

OMC Mudpie, we last were waiting for the delivery man and he delivered our package in another street while Granny saw him drive past our house, so Granny called the headquarters to complain and ever since, he delivers the packages in time with a furriendly smile. Sometimes they ring the door and don't wait till you open it, that's very frustrating, because you have to wait till the next day for another chance :D Anyway, we hope for you and all of us that it will get better soon. Pawkisses for a Happy Day🐾😽💞

Poor Mudpie’s squeezies!?! Although delivery has slowed, my mail is pretty reliable. My sister, in Maryland, has the same problem as you, though (many days, to a week or more), no delivery.

I can't imagine not having your mail delivered. Our mail service has been okay though things have been slow to arrive.

Sometimes they do good and other times not so much. We sent a book to a friend that lives about an hour and a half from us and the book ended up going across country and then was lost. We weren't happy about that either.

Have a purrfect day Mudpie. My best to your mom. ♥

In our area the Postal Service is pretty ok with everything. But if you order something from Amazon like you did and USPS will deliver. It will take us to receive a little while longer. We hope things get sorted out soon for you. Glad to see you Mudpie having some packing paper relaxing time. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

We think your Squeezies should be ok even if they froze 0 just let them thaw at room temp. Now if it was July and they sat somewhere for days, that would be time to worry.

We had days this fall where no mail came/went on Saturday because our huMom had bills in the mailbox that never got picked up. Then on Sunday the mail would come 0 but she had already taken the bills out so they didn't disappear. When we claled the local po thay said that wasn't possible.

We don't have it that bad, but we have a new guy and he delivered my credit card bill to a neighbor that opened it so I was a little miffed about that.

Our postal service isn't that bad. We don't get deliveries on Saturday since the new post officer general took over and slowed everything down. Hope your package wasn't stolen cos in our 'hood, there's a lot of porch pirates following those mail trucks. Maybe you'll get them like we got our litter after we got the replacement.

We cringe when we see shipped via USPS or when UPS or FedEx hands it off to USPS. If they get it we may or many not ever see the items. Our Dad has gotten to the point of actually asking them if they ship via USPS and if they do he doesn't order.

Paws crossed you get your treats, Mudpie! Over here, the USPS is way more predictable than it is for you! In fact, it is much better than FedEx or UPS for us, and even sometimes Amazon itself (and we do have Prime).

It's been a little slower here, but generally we do get our stuff that comes shipped via USPS. We are sorry service has been so poor there. :(

We don't get any other delivery than Canada Post in our rural area. We used to have a US post box and even asked our Canadian Friends to send mail to it as Canada Post was so very slow. Mom closed the US Box when she moved to Vancouver 7 years ago and was thinking of getting a new one when we moved back (2 years ago). Then Covid hit and we could not cross the border. Canada Post has actually gotten better than it was 7 years ago. (Thanks to Amazon). We hope your squeezies arrive. We are sure a little freezing won't hurt them if you eat them soon! We hope you have a marvellously happy day.

Our regular carrier left about 5 years ago. Like you, sub after sub. We got mail late or not at all. Being at the end of the delivery route we think they got tired and went home. Early last year our old carrier came back to the route. Things get delivered now on time, before dinner. If we don't happen to get mail on one day, that means we just didn't have mail that day. So happy.

Mail has been pretty good here so far! We can't believe USPS is cruel enough to hold your squeezies hostage!!! Glad to hear you at least got a refund and hopefully they will arrive anyway!

Mudpie, you deserve a lifetime supply of free squeezies after having to wait so long! I guess we're lucky, because in our area, our mail arrives every day, and our usual carrier has been the same for years. He's a great guy, and he often knows when he has a special delivery for the kitties or pup. We hope you get a mail carrier as great as ours someday soon! And we hope you get that lifetime supply of squeezies!

Wow, that sounds pretty bad. Boo! I hope you get that "free" pack of squeezies and that they aren't frozen.

Glad I don't depend on mail to deliver cat food! This week, with all the snow, it's sort of surprising if anything gets through at all. The smaller the town, the bigger the chance seems to be of going to the store for dog, cat, or human food and not finding the kinds you want. The Post Office never even tried to deliver anything to my home, and it's rare for me to get there while the office is open. I just buy kibble, fish, chicken, and rice when I can and try to give the cats something they can eat twice a day.

oh wow I feel awful for you! We have a regular mail carrier so not too many problems, mail is just sometimes taking longer than usual. You may want to look into joining Amazon Prime, it is totally worth the fee! Hoping your mail carrier issues are resolved soon!
