Embarrassing #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

I am SO embarrassed by my selfie this week!!! Mommy snapped it while I was snacking on some treats in bed. I begged her to wait and use it for our next blooper post, but she said it made her smile, she needed something to make her smile after this past week, and maybe some of our friends need it too.

Whatever it takes to make you all happy...

Our Eventful Halloween #CaturdayArt

Meows from Mudpie!

Holy Cod, our Halloween night was absolutely crazy!!! A freak storm passed through and we ended up with nearly 4 inches of rain...a record breaker for our area. Needless to say, our leak prone basement might be dry again by Christmas. We've never had so much water seep in. Mommy even tried to use the wet vac for the first time but couldn't get it to work right and finally had to admit defeat. The sump pump ran every 10 minutes all night long and even now it goes off every half hour or so.

We didn't go to bed until 3 AM because the wind was so bad Mommy feared we'd lose power. We didn't (thank Cod) but our Internet went out for awhile on Friday so she couldn't work from home as she'd planned. The whole thing sure put a damper (HA!) on our Halloween, but made it a very memorable one.

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. I never read science fiction or fantasy.

2. I mainly read anything that predominantly features cats.

Mudpie's answers:

3. The beginning of a new month is just like any other day for a kitty.

4. Catnip makes me feel silly. I got some pawsome new toys for Halloween (we'll tell you about them next week) and let's just say I overindulged!

Fun Feline Finds: Day of the Dead Decor

Meows from Mudpie!

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and by people of Mexican ancestry. The multi-day holiday (October 31-November 2) focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.

Colorful Day of the Dead statues can be easily found alongside Halloween decorations on store shelves, and over the past few years we've been adding many festive cat statues to add to our holiday decor. We thought you might like to see the pieces from our collection that are on display as part of our Truffles memorial area...

And this is our cluttered Halloween table, predominantly Yankee Candles (from Nordstrom), cat ladies and Lemax Halloween village...

We hope you had a fun Halloween! Now how many days until Christmas???

BOO!!! Happy Meowloween 2019!

Meows from Mudpie, and Happy Meowloween!!!

It's no secret that this is one of our favorite days of the year, and we're super excited to be joining in the No Tricks, Just Treats for Shelters Blog Hop that is being sponsored by our friends at LLB in Our Backyard. Money will be donated to three worthy organizations for every post in the hop that talks about how we plan to/or have helped a shelter or pet in need.

All of Mommy's kitties have been adopted, including me, so this is a topic very close to our hearts. We try to use our blog whenever possible to show how pawsome rescue pets are. We've donated lots of extra food, treats and toys that I've received to review to our local shelters. We use Amazon Smile when we shop and designate favorite rescues to receive a donation from the proceeds. And Mommy is an online volunteer for Anjellicle Cats Rescue in New York City, helping to collect pledges for the kitties they pull from city shelters that otherwise wouldn't make it out alive.

We can ALL do something to make the world a better place for animals still waiting for their forever homes. They're counting on us!

Pumpkins & Bumpkins #MewsicMovesMe

The theme of this week's Mewsic Moves Me blog hop is "songs of the season...you can celebrate Halloween, or autumn, or both." It's one of the best times of the year so this was a fun playlist to put together...

Country Bumpkin is one of my all-time favorite classic country songs, even though I can't listen to it without shedding a tear or two. It's sweet story song that follows a couple through life -- from when they first meet in a bar, to the birth of their son a year later, to their deathbed goodbyes. It’s all framed by the refrain about country bumpkins and pumpkins: Her baby boy is “fresh as frost out on the pumpkin,” and at the end of her life, 40 years later, she says, “So long, country bumpkin.” It was a huge hit for Cal Smith in 1974, but I think it's a song that makes a perfect duet too, by who else by Conway & Loretta...

A couple more autumnal tunes...

And lastly, a good old Halloween classic...

We hope you enjoyed our choices this week!

Did you "fall" for a particular song?

Stink Eye #SundaySelfie

Meows from Mudpie!

Are you wondering what earned Mommy the stink eye? She was trying to get me to snap a selfie in the bathroom window. Now that it's chilly out the window is shut most of the time, so when she finally opens it for me on a sunny morning I am not to be disturbed! Capiche?

Caturday Art

Visit more artsy kitties at Athena's Caturday Art blog hop!

And now our weekly answers for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs!

Mommy's answers:

1. I didn't learn to drive until I was 30.

2. My fear of flying and driving long distances keeps me from going many places. Thankfully I'm a homebody so it doesn't bother me that much, but I have quite a bit on my bucket list.

Mudpie's answers:

3. I try to avoid killing anyone with my cuteness. It's not easy - I need to rein it in sometimes.

4. If I were a ghost, I would haunt anyone who has harmed an animal.
