Allergic to Death

Book Description: Preparing calorie-conscious meals for the dieters of Woodstone, Connecticut, Gigi Fitzgerald knows a cheater when she sees one. And when murder is on the menu, she's ready to get the skinny on whodunit...

Business is looking up for Gigi's Gourmet De-Lite, thanks to her newest client, restaurant reviewer Martha Bernhardt. Martha has the clout to put Gigi's personal meal plans on everyone's lips. But instead of dropping a few pounds, Martha drops dead from a severe peanut allergy...right after eating one of Gigi's signature dishes.

When the distractingly debonair Detective Mertz identifies traces of peanut oil in Martha's last meal, Gigi suddenly finds her diet catering business on the chopping block. Now she'll have to track down who tampered with her recipe before her own goose is cooked.

My Review: What a fantastic new series!!! With a wonderful cast of characters, a charming little town, and a unique concept, this debut by Peg Cochran is one to cheer for! I read so many mysteries that I'm always excited to run across a new murder method. (Not sure what that says about me, LOL!!!) So murder by peanut oil in what was supposed to be a safe, diet-consious meal, really throws heroine Gigi's wonderful new life into an uproar. How can she keep her business thriving (and purchase the darling little cottage she's been renting from the murder victim) if potential customers believe she's careless in preparing their meals? With a satisfying conclusion, the upcoming adventures for Gigi and darling little Reg are limitless and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series.

Tara's Thoughts: I suppose bringing a dog into your life has it's purposes, although having to take them out for walks can get you into mischief. Gigi uses Reg as an excuse to snoop around the murder victim's home, where the little fuzzball ends up finding evidence that breaks the case wide open. But in my opinion everyone would still be better off if they adopted a cat and just stayed at home with them.

FTC Full Disclosure: The publisher sent me a copy of this book with the request for a review.
