Monday Memories: Truffles' 5th Gotcha Day

Five years ago today I adopted Truffles. There's no happier day than the day a new fur baby arrives, and I still remember picking her up at Petco, bringing her home and her settling in like she was always meant to be there.

She was so young, we were going to have so much time together...but that wasn't meant to be.

She's been gone for over 3 years now and I still have a hard time fathoming the little bit of time we had together. Would I have brought her home that day if I'd known the heartbreak to follow? Without a doubt.

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

The Dance, Garth Brooks

We are sending you many, many purrs and hugs as you remember beautiful Angel Truffles today. Though it is so difficult when we don't know the reason, I really do believe that everything indeed does happen for a reason. You and Angel Truffles were meant to share two wonderful, though sadly short, years together. And what beautiful years those were.

Purrs to you today. Your post really reached out and touched my human because I came home to her at the end of the month, just days after Sparkle died. So this is an emotional month for her.

I still tear up every time you write about Truffles. The lyrics from The Dance are so purrfect to commemorate this anniversary. Hugs to you from me and purrs from Allegra and Ruby.

I'm so sorry you didn't have more time together. Though I know you made the most of the time you had together and I also know she's watching over you every day.

She was a pretty Tortie! I'm glad Mudpie is taking care of you.

I never found out what happened to Heather, my friend for almost eight years. Fear the worst--but if she's been "rescued" or chosen to move away, I wouldn't press charges; eight *is* old for an outdoor cat, and I'm not home all day to entertain a superintelligent indoor cat.

I'm glad, though, to have been adopted by Samantha, another Tortie who is beautiful and lovable in completely different ways. At first I wasn't sure whether Samantha and I would ever really like each other, but now I'm seeing some evidence of trust and even respect developing.
