Mudpie Needs To Vent

Meows from Mudpie!

Some of you might remember Mo as we've featured him here before. Mommy has actually known Mo longer than she's known me - she figures she's been feeding him for around 10 years now!

We always referred to Mo as our "neighbor kitty" because he would only visit in the evening for his snack, like maybe his owners let him out after they got home from work. But over the past couple years we've come to the realization he probably never had a home, as he's spending the majority of his time seeking shelter in our backyard.

Here's the thing about Mo - in all the years Mommy has been feeding him, he's never once allowed her to touch him. He waits at the back step for his meals, then runs when she opens the door to put the food out. Mommy always thought he was just really timid, but it's become all too clear that he's likely feral.

A couple weeks ago Mo stopped eating. Nothing Mommy gave him met with his approval. He would just sniff it and walk away. She tried new flavors and textures to no avail. She started getting really stressed out thinking maybe he was sick, and how would she ever be able to get him to the vet?

In desperation, she picked up a few cans of Fancy Feast and even boiled a chicken breast for him.

Turns out Mister Mo must've just gotten sick of his usual Friskies. Mo loves Fancy Feast. Mo loves boiled (and rotisserie) chicken.

I don't even get Fancy Feast and boiled chicken***, yet a wayward soul who can't see how awesome Mommy is gets served such luxuries?!?!?!

So now Fancy Feast has been added to our weekly grocery list, and I have a feeling it will be eating into my squeezie budget.

*** Note from Mommy - Mudpie should have a Pinocchio nose with such lies! She has been offered FF in the past and stuck her nose up at it, just as she does all wet food. And every time we have meat for dinner, she's offered some. Only now that she sees Mo getting it has she decided it's worth checking out!

I love Mo to pieces, and it breaks my heart that he lives his life outside, even though it's where he feels the safest. If he ever chooses to, he'll always have a home with us. Until then, he has shelter in the backyard and a full tummy.

And Mudpie's squeezie budget is perfectly safe.

Dear Mudpie, you and your mommy are so very kind to take care of Mo while he lives a life outside. Since he knows nothing better, it's hard for him to understand what a helping hand really is. It's wonderful that you found food that he likes and who knows you might take a nibble of.

Dearest Mudpie,
This only proves how much YOU are being loved compared to Mo who is an outside kitty and still received his food.
It is so sad to see other kitties in the neighborhood that are not being loved by humans.
They come to our home, even enter the cat door in the garage—looking for some food.
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties

I'm sure it frustrates you, Mudpie, but know that what your mommy does for Mo means the world to him. It's not easy for feral kitties, and having a consistent and safe source of food and shelter is undoubtedly such a blessing to him. We've had a number of feral cats come and go in our neighborhood over the years. My ferals never let me pet them either, but I've always put food and shelter out for them. Right now, we also have an orange boy who visits us every day, and he's been doing so for a couple years now. When he doesn't show up for breakfast, I feel like such a nervous wreck, but luckily that rarely happens. Thank you for feeding Mo and giving him a safe place to be! He's so lucky to have you.

Oh sweet Mudpie, don't think your mommy loves you less now that Mo gets your 'best' food, she just shares it with him because she cares for him, but you will always be her number one😸😺Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day to you, Mo and your mommy too🐾😽💞

Oh Mudpie, I'm sure there's enough to go around for all. Your mom's awesome for taking such good care of Mo, and yeah, maybe one day he'll come around and relax a bit.

Mudpie, did your mommy tell on you to everyone! I'm glad that Mo likes his FF and has a full belly again. I hope one day he decides to come inside and then you'll have a new brother.

Mudpie, seeing ferals and homeless kitties wherever we see them is extremely hard on moms and dads. We love our own kitty babies so much that it breaks our hearts to see the outside ones always cold or too hot and in danger. So we feed them and hope they will allow us to pet them and eventually bring them in. Love to you and Mo..and your Mom too.

Bless you for taking care of Mo as best you can. It speaks volumes that you go to extra effort to find what he would like to eat. I hope, too, that one day he will cross your threshold to discover the true depths of your love for him.

What a handsome guy!

ps - Mudpie, you should be thankful she's not giving him the squeezies! Seems like the FF and fresh meat is a small price to pay ;)
