Meows from Mudpie!
If you read our blog yesterday you know we've been having trouble with our furnace. It's been peeing on the floor since late October/early November, but with Grandpa so sick Mommy had to put it on the back burner. She knows that high efficiency gas furnaces produce a lot of condensation so she figured something had just gotten plugged up and wasn't terribly concerned about it.
Wednesday afternoon a technician came to look at it and says the water is coming from the secondary heat exchanger. That's a part that can be replaced, but it's a difficult replacement that will cost nearly half of what a new furnace would be, so he recommended getting a new furnace.
Here's the infuriating part - the furnace is only 7 years old!!! Needless to say, Mommy plans to get a few second opinions because she worries about being taken advantage of as a woman alone now.
It's been another extremely stressful week at our house.
We're joining our friends at The Cat on My Head for the Sunday Selfies blog hop!

Mudpie you and your mommy are in a tough place about the furnace. Hopefully a second person will have a better idea of how to fix this without it being completely replaced. And in the winter time, that is the worst. It's been decades ago but I remember one bitter cold February when we had 2 ft of snow on the ground and no furnace until they got done working. Took all day.
Ugh, it's always something.
Sending you calming vibes; you've got this.
You are adorable sweet Mudpie! Yes, get a second and third opinion. Also, if that brand doesn't even last ten years you should look at a different one.
Sorry for the stress. Definitely a second and third opinion are needed. Too many people (both men and women) are more likely to be taken advantage of these days. You are looking quite disgruntled by the entire situation, Mudpie. Hope the coming week is a better one for both of you. Thanks for hopping with us. Yes, keep asking for help from other people, and get friends to give you recommendations. Check their BBB rating (although that can be iffy) and ask to speak to former satisfied customers. A furnace should last longer than this.
The Lady says definitely get a second or third opinion. She’s had too many issues with repair people.
