Guest Post: Terri Austin, author of Last Diner Standing

Hi, Melissa! Thanks so much for having me on Mochas, Mysteries and More! It’s a pleasure to be here. I’ve just released my second Rose Strickland Mystery, LAST DINER STANDING—a traditional, amateur sleuth mystery with a dash of spicy humor.

Rose Strickland is having a blue Christmas. Her friend is arrested for attempted murder, her sexy bad guy crush is marked by a hit man, and her boss is locked in an epic smackdown with a rival diner. Determined to save those she loves, Rose embarks on an investigation more tangled than a box of last year's tree lights. With her eclectic gang at the ready, Rose stumbles across dead bodies, ex-cons, jilted lovers, and a gaggle of strippers as she searches for the truth. What she finds will leave her entrenched in a battle for freedom she might not survive.

Now, I know ex-cons and a slew of strippers may not scream Christmas, but it all ties together in my little corner of the universe. This story picks right up where DINERS, DIVES AND DEAD ENDS left off. I enjoy writing humor and loved revisiting the quirky characters that make up Rose’s world.

First we have Ma, the sassy septuagenarian who refuses to let a rival diner encroach on her business. Then we have Roxy, Rose’s blue-haired, anime-loving, fashionably-whacked bestie. Next comes Axton, an affable sci-fi geek/IT god. And finally Sullivan. He’s not just another bad boy. He’s all man. At the center of it is Rose. As a former rich girl turned waitress and part-time student, Rose is struggling, yet determined to make a future for herself. And hopefully find a little Christmas spirit along the way.

So, what was your craziest holiday memory? I’d love to hear about it! And I love to hear from readers. You can find me on Twitter, FB, TerriLAustin.com, or Henery Press. A few writer pals and I have a book chat every Wednesday on FB at Little Read Hens. Please join us! You can find LAST DINER STANDING on Amazon or B&N.

When Terri L. Austin isn’t writing, she enjoys eating breakfast at her local diner, watching really bad movies, and hanging out with her kids when they’re home from college. She lives in Missouri with her funny, handsome husband and her high maintenance peekapoo.

I just love your books, Terri! They are funny, sweet and sexy at the same time. I don't know how you do it.

My craziest holiday memory? From childhood is the year I got the flu at Christmas. My dad and sister went to Grandma's without me and my mom stayed home and we watched TV in bed together. Only time that ever happened and except for the constant puking, I enjoyed that Christmas.

A recent crazy holiday was two years ago when we moved from Japan back to Georgia two days before Christmas with our two little girls. Let me tell you, Santa was jetlagged & exhausted but he worked his butt off to pull off Christmas.

Wow! I guess you can't skip Christmas when you have small kids, huh? Santa was kind to work overtime for you! Thanks for the lovely words, Larissa. I appreciate it!
