A Charming Voodoo Blog Tour: Mudpie Visits Whispering Falls

Meows from Mudpie!

Today's post is so much fun. We're taking part in the blog tour for Tonya Kappes' new Magical Cures mystery, A Charming Voodoo. Since this book takes place at Halloween we asked Mr. Prince Charming, the feline star of the series, to take us on a tour of Whispering Falls during this most spooky of seasons. He took my request one step further...he asked me to tag along too!

I can't wait for you to read about my adventure, but first, a little about the book:

Bubble. . . bubble. . .
Whispering Falls is abuzz with the new
housing development and new shops
popping up all over the magical
village right before the annual All
Hallow’s Eve celebration.

Cures and trouble. . .
June Heal’s intuition
is on high alert and she just can’t shake
that something bad is about to happen.

Magic stirs . . .
June finds Violet Draper standing over a dead body
In the new pumpkin patch hours before it’s supposed
to open for hayrides.

And trouble doubles . . .
Once again, June has to put her sleuthing skills to work
and figure out who the real killer is before the new
citizens pack up and move right back out of town.

Mudpie Visits Whispering Falls
by Tonya Kappes

Mr. Prince Charming, the familiar for June Heal in the Magical Cures Mystery Series, reached his arms in front of him, spread out his claws before his back curled into arch for a nice long stretch. He’s waiting on the front steps of A Charming Cure, the potion store owned by June as he waited for his friend Mudpie.

Meow, Mudpie.

I’m so glad you came to visit and that your Melissa let you come. There aren’t many other cats in Whispering Falls and it’s nice to spend some time with you.

I thought I’d take you around and show you around Whispering Falls. First if you look up there on that hill, that’s my cottage where I live with June. I love June. She’s something super special. You know how you keep your human company, well, I keep June safe. She doesn’t necessarily need a lot of company because we are surrounded with people all day long since she owns this shop.

I thought I’d take you down to the bakery first. Wicked Good makes the most delicious pastries and treats. It’ll get our day started. Be sure to watch your paws over the cobblestone because those little pebbles can really get in there and it can just ruin your day.

Mewwll, mewl, Come on, Mudpie, you have to make a little noise so Raven Mortimer can hear us over her ovens and blenders and mixers. Here she comes.

“Good morning, Mr. Prince Charming. Oh, you have a friend this morning. Let me get you two a special treat.” Raven walks back into Wicked Good Bakery and returning quickly with another treat. “Here you go. It has some salmon, oats, and a little cat nip.” Raven tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear and ran her hands down her Wicked Good apron.

Meow, meow. Now we have to rub up against her so she knows we appreciate it.

“Awe, you two are so cute. I have to get in here and make my June’s Gems before the visitors get into town.” Raven walks back in the shop.

Isn’t she great, Mudpie? Now, we have to walk next door to The Gathering Grove Tea Shoppe to help wash down the treat.

“There you are.” Gerald Regulia looked over the counter of the tea shoppe as soon as Mr. Prince Charming and Mudpie trotted through the open front door. “It’s a beautiful fall morning and I love how the smells of the tea float around the air and fill the village with warmth and magic.” Gerald walked around the counter with a small bowl in his hand. “I see you have a friend. Let me get her a bowl too.”

Meow, I love a good bowl of warmed milk, don’t you Mudpie?

“Have a good day! See you later,” Gerald called after the two friends had finished their warm milk and darted back out of the door.

Now I like to go visit my friends at Glorybee Pet Store, but I sense something going on behind the Sheriff’s Department. Let’s go. You have to keep up. What is in that field? What are these big orange things? Mewl, I think these are what June calls pumpkins. I’ve never seen so many pumpkins in my life. Can you read human? I can. That sign says Patch’s Pumpkin Farm. This is new. I’ve never seen this here before. This makes me my radar go off, you know like when we sense something bad. I wonder if my June is in danger. I can’t let my June be in danger.

Rowl, come on, Mudpie. I have to run over to Belle’s Baubles and get something for my June.

“I guess you are here for a special charm for June’s bracelet?” Belle asked. “I see you have a friend today. Welcome to Whispering Falls. I know that when I see Mr. Prince Charming this early in the morning, that he needs a special protection charm for his June.” She pulls the charms out of the glass cabinet and sets them on top allowing Mr. Prince Charming to pick what he needs. “Oh, a leaf charm. Perfect choice. The seasons are changing and so is Whispering Falls. June is going to need to keep an eye out for all the new citizens that are moving in today and this will help her have a better intuition as well as welcome the new change.”

Meow, Mudpie, it was good seeing you and I hate to cut our visit short, but I’ve got to get to my June and give her this charm. There is some evil lurking around here and it’s my job to keep her safe. I hope you can come back in a couple of nights when we are celebrating our All Hallow’s Eve! See you later.
