National Record Store Day #CaturdayArt

Today we decided to bring back one of most popular Caturday Art pieces from the past in order to celebrate National Record Store Day.

I was never a fan of records growing up when my parents had them playing. It seems they were always griping about the records skipping and I had to wonder why they even bothered with the aggravation. When cassettes and then CDs came along I was quick to make the transition. Little did I know all these years later they would become such an important part of my Conway collection, although in all honesty I collect them primarily for the cover art. I digitize everything that isn't already on CD.

This box is filled with his US catalog (both rock & country). I'm missing only 3 or 4 to have a complete collection.

I'm in need of a second box because this stack is his foreign releases, radio shows that he was featured on and/or co-hosted, and autographed records. I have a rather lofty goal of collecting a second complete set of his albums all autographed. So far I have 17 - don't even ask how many more I need to find!

Lastly, this box is filled with his 45s and extended play (EP) records...SO many more to be found!

No, I do not own a single non-Conway record. Where would I put them?!?!?!

Just this week I found out about 2 record stores here in my area that I wasn't aware of. Maybe today would be a good day to stop in and hunt for some buried treasure!

Any other record collectors out there?
Or maybe you have fond memories of when vinyl was king?

Lovely art!

Mum tells me she is old enough to remember vinyl fondly. As a child, she used to play her dad's Elvis records and so grew up with vinyl in the 70s and 80s, switched to cassette tapes and was quite late to CDs.

Oh dear, this made dad weep like a baby. He used to collect vinyl and had so, so many he could barely move around his old apartment. He was with Elton John records the way you are with Conway ones. And then he met mom. And then he learned about decluttering (thanks to mom, of course). He's one of those ones who longs for that intermittent and/or looping scratch that you can only get from vinyl. Oh, and nice album cover art, Mudpie! Thanks for the memories...

Our Dad used to have quite the record collection too but he sold almost all of them on eBay several years ago. Love your cover art Mudpie!

That's a Pawsome collection you have there, Melissa and we just love the one of Mudpie, such a great vinyl <3 Granny and Grandpaw both had a great collection of serveral Bands/singers, but when they moved to this house a few years ago, they sold them all, now they only have left the collection of The Eagles. Pawkisses for a Happy Caturday🐾😽💞

Mudpie, you look so great as a record cover. We love this artwork. I still have all my dad's record collection. We do see them coming back in some of the stores around here. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

The only vinyl I'm a fan of is the one with Mudpie on it!

My brother has all of our vinyl records, and he's recording them onto his computer. I remember carefully placing the arm and needle on records.

20 years ago when I moved I sold all my LP's. I had some pretty good records from the 60-90's in there. I'm sad now they are gone. Your collection is quite impressive.Love the cover for Miss Mudpie!

That is a most impressive collection. I still have some albums, but never play them.

We find it amazing that records...or rather vinyl...is making a comeback. The mom sold some of her old albums to a local shop here that sells vinyl.

We still have hundreds of records—all different artists too!—in the condo even though the peeps got rid of about half the collection when they moved here. TW has tons or foreign and promo REM but never was blessed to have $$ to have a complete collection. Enjoy your CWs!

When we first moved down here Dad had his old record collection out. He has a turntable that hooks right into the puter so he can digitize his favorites. I think that is on his to-do list Hee Hee

By coincidence, TBT is setting up his old turntable. He says there are some records he hasn't heard in 30 years. But he needs to get a new needle. Whatever THAT is.

Purr-sonally, I think that you need to replace those Twitty album covers with all Mudpie ones. Winks. -Valentine (& Kerry) of Noir Kitty Mews

I had no idea that Mudpie was a record star. We want to buy her MEOW edition!! Our human still has some vinyl also. If only we had known about this important day, we would have tried to sharpen our claws on the sides of her old records. Her previous cats used to do that. Her records have claw marks all over and really make us feel at home!

We want to make it purr-featly clear that WE did not make the claw marks on her old records. Her other cats were apparently not as polite as us!
